It’s Thursday plans day again. Today’s tiny house plans are from Dan Louche of Tiny Home Builders.
For those of you who don’t know Dan this is second tiny house design named Tiny Living.
Tiny Living Tiny House Plans
Tiny Living is one of Tiny Home Builders latest designs after Dan created Tiny Retirement for his mother.
Not long ago I took a trip up to North Florida to check out the latest progress on his build. I’ll show you the pictures I took in a minute.
Dan Louche and Tiny Home Builders
Dan has been designing and building his own tiny houses for the last couple of years. Since then he has put together a wonderful resource for those who want to do the same.
If you wanted to purchase any of those plans he packages them together with his Tiny House Construction Guide that you can alternatively buy separately for just $34.99.

Let’s take a closer look at Dan’s new house which he recently took a video tour of.
The house is 20′ long with a width of 8′ 6″ on the outside.
This time he created a new set of plans that he’s using for the home and you’ll see how awesome it’s turning out in the video we created while I was there.
Fun with sugar sand
When I got there I was greeted by a friendly dirt road and I thought “oh no problem”.
But a few blocks down it got worse.
This is what I was facing
Again… I had gone too far. So I turned around and you’ll have to watch the video to see what happened next.
The little house on a trailer
I was really impressed with the house and how fast they have been putting it together. Currently, they’re waiting on windows so that’s what’s holding them back.
Here’s a shot of the progress while I was there on Monday.
Video length: 12:11
Enjoy…

Now, he’s planning to do it again down here in Florida. When it’s all finished you might have the chance to purchase it if he doesn’t use it as a vacation home.
During the process Dan’s going to create a new set of plans which you’ll eventually be able to purchase as well. The options are great!
Sleeping loft this time around
I love the idea of a sleeping loft just because it creates a lot more room for the house. So Dan’s going to do that this time around which I think is awesome.
So he’s already bought the following and is well on his way towards building his tiny house on a trailer (version 2).
On Sunday I shared some photos with you from when I went up to visit Dan Louche and his family to check out the tiny house that he built for his mom.
Some of you may have already gotten a hold of the video because I uploaded it on Youtube a few days ago. But for those of you who still haven’t, this post is for you.
You can see what a great time we had with them and just how cool her house is. I found it unique compared to most of the other ones you’ve seen online, including Tumbleweed’s.
They chose original colors inside along with the layout. I think that the coolest part is the amount of counter space that she has to work with inside.
It’s very spacious. At one point there were 7 of us inside and we were comfortably eating, laughing, and having a great time.
Dan did a great job with the house and Kathy decorated it very nicely, as you’ll see in the tour. I’ll leave the rest to the video… Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
Again–a warm thanks to Dan and his family for being so awesome and welcoming while we were there.
You can learn more about the ins and outs of how this home was built over at his blog, Tiny House Project.
Yesterday I took a trip to go visit Dan Louche, meet his mom, his awesome family and their beautiful tiny house. I want to send over a big thank you to all of them for making us feel like we were family, feeding us, laughing with us and showing us every nook and cranny in their home along with the stories behind it.
A special message to Rick: thank you for showing me how to cut the grass the silent way (and achieve ripped abs while I’m at it) Andrea came along and so did our pup, Louie. We all had a blast and loved hanging out in the little house. Dan did an incredible job with the design, my pictures DO NOT do justice so be on the look out at Dan’s site for better high-quality photos of the completely finished house.
Some of you already know Dan from the interview we did after he built and delivered a tiny house on a trailer for his mother who lives in Florida.
He was inspired by Michael Janzen over at Tiny House Design. After seeing his work on SketchUp he decided to go at it himself. His dream became real… a new tiny house for his mother to live in.
Lucky for anyone that wants to learn how he did it–he documented the entire process and offers it as a package.
It includes his book which details just about all of the steps he took to build the house and it has lots of pictures to reference from.
Then he has the plans for his particular design, the electrical diagram, and the materials list organized by category. It even has approximate prices (what he paid).
Finally there’s the SketchUp file which he used to model the house in case you want to look at it from different views or make any changes.
I’m excited to share our first interview here on Tiny House Talk with Dan Louche who designed and built a tiny house from scratch for a special someone in his life.

Alex:Can you tell us a little bit about the tiny house you’ve been constructing and why you decided to build it?
Dan: The tiny house that I built was for my mom.
A little over a year ago I received a call from her where she told me that she was having some respiratory problems associated with mold in the trailer home she was living in.
I knew I had to do something, but neither she nor I could afford to buy her a new home. So I began to research my options and came across the tiny house movement.
I had always been interested in smaller spaces and after seeing what others were doing, I was inspired to design and build her a tiny house.
The house is 8×20. I wanted it to be as large as possible but still be reasonable to tow and move around.
The living space is on a single level since my mother is older and a sleeping loft is not an option for her. I also wanted it to appear as roomy as possible inside, so I included large dormers on the front and back of the house.
