Surf Bus: Trying Out Tiny Living in a Cozy Camper Van?

This post contains affiliate links.

This is a 30 year old classic Mercedes Van now happily serving as the Surf Bus.

Since it’s a big van, it would make for an absolutely awesome little home on wheels for van dwelling and adventuring.

If traveling is something that’s on your agenda, maybe you can consider a similar set up?

In this case, the bus stays put in the countryside of De Woude, North Holland, Netherlands.

Here you’re near Amsterdam and the North Sea Beach. Have a look below, learn more, consider staying (if you want), and enjoy!

Looks Awesome! Love the idea of turning an older van into a home on wheels. I would probably try to find a better way to use the interior with the table in the middle but since this is an Airbnb place, it makes sense

    Colorful to say the least!
To make more open space I would have put the dining area at the back and make the dining table a bed at night, using the cushions from the benches on either side. I’d make hinges on panels on either side of the benches that flip up and lock into place to keep the bed occupant from falling off the bed at night. During the day, these panels would flip back down and under the bench cushions.

      Hi Linda,
If you have ever had to make a dinette into a bed each night, you would soon get tired of it! I can understand their reason for having a fixed bed at the back.
My only concern about this bus is that I see no bathroom.
      Happy Trails, Penny.

What an adorable little doll house! I love it! I’ll bet it is lots of fun to live in. Cute as a button!

I agree, a doll house. The layout is perfect as it sleeps so many this way. I love the colors. Someone is really sharp about design. One of the best thinks are the two racks above, on both sides. Lots of stow room. I would love to know how to find those. Thanks, Lynn

In ref to the enquiry about the stowage shelfs either side up at roof height you are enquiring about! Simple measure the length you require them as all vans are different lengths and simply either get a hold of some lengths of L stock metal or light box and some lathe for plastering on and either get local welding shop to spot the two together or plastic zip tie together and it will jam between roof and sides no problem but doubt you could buy of the shelve and if you could it would be price prohibitive that route or search a buss or commercial breakers yard

the racks look just like those used on school buses carrying sports teams to games….try sourcing schoolie remodels, or the bus mfg for the OEM.
