How this Family (with kids) Live in a Tiny House on Wheels

I thought I would share this tiny house tour with you from Slabtown Customs.

Scott Stewart (owner of the company and designer/builder) gives you a complete tour of their Flipped Loft tiny home while it’s furnished and being lived in.

I know that you probably like to see examples of tiny houses being lived in and you’ll love this because it’s a tiny home for a family of four!

That means… Yes… There’s even a kids room in here!

I encourage you to learn more about this house and how you might be able to get one or build one yourself below if you want to:

This one is 8′ x 24′ and is legal to tow on the road.

Inside you’ll find a kitchen, bathroom and two sleeping lofts.

It was designed to suite a family of four.

All in a footprint of just 192 sq. ft.

But when you include the loft spaces it’s a total of 336 sq. ft. of interior floor space.

It’s hard to believe without seeing it. Below you can watch Scott’s first tour of the home when it was finished and before it was lived in:

When most people hear of one of their friends or family members moving into a tiny house they usually think they’ve gone mad.

When a family decides to do it, they might be criticized even more.

But after it’s all said and done, it’s a mortgage-free lifestyle.

Small spaces = more freedom.

I like the concept, but I would reverse the kidsbdrm/family room. I’ve been playing with an idea of making 2 expando living; kitchen/dining rooms (4Wx6H&L ea) fold down roof(s) for transport with clerestory main. And keep it 8-6 max. Engineering wet dream, but thats ok, thats what winter is for

I think the point of having the kids’ bedroom below the living room was that the lower room closes off completely, while the upper part is open to the rest of the house. It would be very hard to get your kids to go to sleep if they could see you doing dishes in the kitchen, for example.

I’d encourage anyone actually contemplating buying one of these homes to google ‘Scott Stewart slabtown customs’ and peruse the first page results.

I LOVE my SLABTOWN CUSTOMS TINY HOUSE by Scott Stewart.
I had a wonderful experience with Scott a few years ago when he built my tiny house. I have been looking at tiny homes for well over 25 years, way before they became popular. After talking to many of Slabtowns happy customers I sent Scott a check to start building my tiny home. He went above and WAY beyond in doing an excellent job. I love my tiny house. His prices are great and I am delighted with how he customized it to my specifications.

I have hired and worked with many contractors over the years who have done additions or new builds for me. I can remember many headaches dealing with contractors. I can say that working with Slabtown Customs was an over all great experience. I have already been offered more than 2x what I paid for my tiny house, although I don’t have any interest in selling it. I just could not be happier with this company. A positive experience for sure. I am going to be hiring Scott to build me another tiny home for my beach property in the future.
Great custom tiny homes at amazing prices.

Love the house. The fact that there are two bedrooms, and stairs is really great. Thanks for sharing and hope to contact them and see if they will deliver to my state or just custom something for me.
    Thanks for sharing.

How much would it cost for something like this?

Please use CAUTION if you are considering using Scott Stewart with Slabtown Customs to build your tiny house. I have sent him $9000 cash and $4000 worth of appliances and fixtures that I wanted in my Tiny House 3 years ago! To this day have not seen a picture and now have not been able to get him to return my calls or emails for a year. Don’t get duped like I did…..

Scott, what the heck is going on? Why are people saying things like this about you?

He’s got a few happy customers but several others, like you Erica, who he has seemed to have duped. I’m so sorry this happened.

Folks please be careful who you give your hard earned money to. Ask for references. And always, always, put down as little money as possible. I also advise DO NOT ever pay in full until your home is 100% complete.

I lived within a few miles of Scott , and I wanted a price or at least some input on my curiosity. I received no response. Made me ‘nervous’. Unsure of what to think.

What ever you do, do not trust Scott Stewert. I sent him $9126.00 in Jan 2013 to get him started. He told me they would start framing the next week. 6 months later I emailed asking for an update and got no answer. I emailed asking for my money back and was ignored. I tried to get the Ark AG to help me but Stewert never responded to them either.

Scott Stewert will ask for half the money upfront to complete your project and then just pocket your money. Stewert is a ripoff artist

Thanks for the heads up Raymond. I don’t recommend going with him because I’ve heard similar stories from others but I thought there is still value in showing off some of the homes he’s actually followed through with and built (which oddly enough those clients seem to be very happy with him).
