After endless searching I finally found a beautiful lakefront lot that had an open minded HOA willing to approve their first shipping container home! It took a month to prepare the house for transfer. On August 1st the house was brought to its new home (see images).
The same company that transported the house also poured the foundation. Once the house arrived they used a robot (and hard man labor) to literally roll the house onto the foundation. Really neat to watch.
I spent over 2 months getting water and electricity to the land, driveway installed, septic/plumbing, fence and decks installed…. etc. Luckily this land is in the county, not city, so permits were not an issue. House is available for rent in early November on Airbnb and I already have people booking!

wish it showed a picture of how the outside looks. Airbnb says it is 2 containers. are they connected horizontally or vertically? the inside looks like it might really cute but the clutter makes it hard to really see that.

Interesting that we don’t get to “see” the outside of the building. Oh yes, there are 2 pics but so dark and unclear one cannot really visualise.

I’d be much more concerned if I couldn’t see the inside 🙂 Based on that, it’s gotta be cute! — Tiny House Talk Team

Shipping container or ISBU are the most affordable way to build a rock solid home which can withstand almost all natural desasters.
You can buy these boxes mostly under scrap value almost every there and build the interior according to your needs. If you don’t like the corrugated steel walls you can add any cladding and or additional insulation, even put another than flat roof on. The options are endless.
Beside that they can achieve almost all building codes the only problem is to get the building permit.

I am so interested in this container home. I went to the Air B&B & the pictures are much better. Am planning on booking a weekend with my wife, I have been trying to convince, we should do this on another lake south of Dallas. Maybe, this might be the impetus to convince her. Fingers crossed.

620 sq ft? I didn’t know they made containers that big.
I’d love to see a floor plan. Fitting 2 beds and 1 1/2 bath into 620 sq ft is amazing!
I think the decor is a little to dark for a lakeside but that’s personal preference.
If I were the HOA, I’d be less concerned with the actual shipping container and more concerned about who’s renting it by the night. I guess $120/night is high enough to keep out the partying riff-raff.

I don’t know about this one, the pictures are so dark they don’t let you really get a feel for this house…!

I’m kind of agreeing with you on that. Seems that housing for people to actually live in is giving way to overpriced short time rentals. And its happening everywhere… New Zealand, Australia, Fiji… oh, wait, maybe not in Fiji 😁
