Shepherds Delight Country Style Tiny Cabin

This post contains affiliate links.

In this post I’m excited to show you the Shepherds Delight country style tiny cabin.

It’s an amazing space that’s used for vacations but you can see how amazing it would be to live simply in full time.

It’s got that ‘shabby chic’ style (I’d rather call it country) with a touch of luxuriousness to it too.

Right??! The storage under the bed would be more than enough for a work and casual wardrobe, plus, room to spare. The full-size bathroom facilities are great. So much light and open space.

Oh my but this is truly sweet!!!! I love the bed option as a loft is not possible with us and the kitchen really feels to me like a gourmet kitchen for a tiny house. Again, a tiny house with an awesome bathroom and I love the bigger shower and the towel heater, I guess that’s what it is and that is so functional to have in any home. This tiny house on paper looks compact. However, in the photos this house seems spacious and has a lot of light. I love the inviting feel I get just looking at the photos and the outdoor eating/living space is awesome with a wonderful view. Great design for the older but young at heart set. Love, love, love it.

Location, location, location. When much living and socializing takes place out of doors, I believe that the view from that space should be just as breathtaking, if not more so, than the interior. This house has nailed that down. When the time comes that I can do this, buying the perfect piece of land will come before any decisions are finalized about the structure I will build there.

I could guess but could someone give me the dimensions on this? It’s actually ideal in many ways; the exterior is so utterly simple (basically a shed?) and the interior has everything without too much of anything, or those darn lofts that scare the beejebus out of me… love the small luxuries of the bathroom and deck (and the view!)

perfect perfect perfect. Just exactly what I would want to live in. No loft to climb in… a bit more outdoor furniture– I don’t mind lounging on the bed, I do it now. Maybe a good tiny storage shed to use for out of season clothes (a washer and dryer, LOL?) If it was in my daughter’s back yard, then I could use hers. I would mostly live outside when the weather permitted. Oh it’s lovely to dream. We will see what Reality brings.

Did you go to the website and see the cool balcony on Shepherd’s Rest? Go to the bottom of the page on that website and follow the link. It’s a wonderful kind of retreat center….Love it! I am just filing away all these beautiful ideas and sometime it will come together.

I love this design. Perfect for my needs. As much as I like tiny houses with a loft, I need the sleeping area to be on main floor. I had a stroke at younger age and even with a great deal of therapy, I still use cane to assist with walking. I might be able to use stairs as opposed to ladder, but there are concerns that as I get older, I might have more problems with walking. So looking at designs with bed on main floor.

I have seen posts about other tiny house in England, and a hotplate/cooktop is called an “electric cooker with hob.” Anyone know what that means? I love to compare what things are called in different areas.

And this hut is a real cutie. Love. Love. Love the shower.

Modern kitchen stoves have both burners on the top (also known as the cooktop or stovetop in American English and as the hob in British English) as well as an oven. A cooktop can refer to the top of a stove or burners built into a countertop.

Have seen these shepherd’s cottages many times and never get tired of them. They are truly inspiring examples of simple living without sacrifice of amenities. Love the no loft layout and the inclusion of a full bath. Perfect.

I love these little cabins. Of all the tiny house designs I would most like to pattern mine from, these are my favorites. I love everything – the French doors, the bed with drawers underneath, the little kitchen with the stools and bar (instead of a table), and everything else. I would put in some of my inherited Rosemaling plates and rag rugs for a Scandinavian-rustic look.

Oh yes, I second all the above motions. While this is (obviously) an open floor plan it’s it’s so well balanced. The cooking, living/sleeping areas are distinct but subtlety delineated so they just flow quietly into one another without competing for space. The bathroom is nice. Granted the loo isn’t generally a place where we do a lot of hanging but it shouldn’t be a place we desperately want to escape when we’re in it either. This one appears to be very comfortably sized so you can enjoy a relaxing shower, dry off, etc. without feeling like you’re in a phone booth.

Precious. Love all these shepherds huts. Charming, comfortable, beautiful style. Amazingly functional design for such a small space. Very bright, fresh feeling and breathtaking setting. I recommend these for honeymoons. For full-time living I might shrink the fancy bathroom for more living space and add wall storage.

Great functional home. I daydream about layouts for shipping containers and this is very close to one. I like the BIG kitchen sink: you can always span it with cutting boards and suspended dish drainers for extra workspace, but you can never make a small sink bigger.

This rig, of all those I’ve sent to my save file, strikes the lost chord. Yeah, this is just right for this geezer whose divesting himself of most of the impedimentia acquired during 86 years. It’s even on wheels, which is a big thing with the person who would provide the location.

Here’s a relatively spacious design that doesn’t employ a loft. The late, great physical culturist, Benarr McFadden, might have chortled with joy at the sight of a ladder or set of steep stairs to add a fillip to the end of his day as he heads for the sack. My 86-year-old knees and ammonia damaged lungs beg to differ. I don’t know the economics of Tiny House design, but with the burgeoning elderly population in the U.S. I’d expect any commercial designer to devote at least 20% of design output to us creaky old farts.

Sadly, this gem is a UK product, and therefore unobtainable at a reasonable price, if at all, on the West Coast. And, as seems to be the protocol on this site, I find nothing about construction costs, availability of plans, or the possibility of a U.S. affiliate and builder.

One could use this very nice interior floor plan for that other tiny house that was up for sale, the container home. 🙂 Just a thought. Have a great day everyone, unless of course you have other plans! hehehe

I love this shepherd’s hut! I have seen some without a shower room, but this has one, so is perfect for me! There are a lot of companies here in UK selling them, including in kit form, but the nice ones are VERY expensive! Our small house in France is in a sheep keeping area, so I would be very tempted to have one of these on our land for visitors or for us once the stairs become too difficult! A girl can dream!

Alex, I really enjoy your post a lot. Even look forward to receiving them. And, the blue banner ad you have running is truly annoying. I see no way of deleting it. It makes reading anything on your site unpleasant to read.

Like this way better than most. But, really, a washroom sign?
Not a fan of French doors, they tend to leak, where a regular door won’t. Definitely would NOT recommend them on anything with wheels. Personally, if I wanted a fancy door, I’d custom make one – or for those lacking the appropriate woodworking skills to make your own door, I’d say just decorate a standard door as you please.

Love this except I would build it a little longer to add a closet. Plus where wood burning heater is I would have small table and put in a mini split for heat and air. Next to oven a cabinet.

And I now have those doors on my “nest”, a nearly 200 sf insulated backyard shed whose interior will be finished in the spring. It will accommodate an area for relaxing and another for sewing and crafting.
