Ryan’s 131 Sq. Ft. Tiny House in Colorado

This is Ryan’s 20′ 131 Sq. Ft. Tiny House on Wheels.

He started building it in his neighbor’s garage in the winter of 2014.

Since Ryan is well versed in construction, according to this article on Tumbleweed, he was able to finish it in only four months while spending about $35,000 on it.

By the time May 2015 came around, he moved it to Colorado. A unique thing about Ryan’s 20′ tiny house is that he doesn’t use a sleeping loft.

Instead, his couch is a lot like a murphy bed… It folds out into a bed when he’s ready to go to sleep for the night. Ryan also uses a hammock inside to hang out in.

What’s with the gray wall behind the blue couch…does not look nice….sorry

Is it the part that folds down to make the bed?

It’s the bottom of the murphy bed that folds down sideways and lays on the couch when it’s down.

Lovely! Where’s the swing? Could he please post more photos on this, demonstrating uses of the bed, swing, etc? Thanks! Keep up the good work!

I think it is very nice. Exception I would use a daybed for sleeping and sitting for living area. But the whole thing is very nice. Love the shower head idea.

The watering can shower head reminds me when I gave my kids a ‘flower shower’ when we had plumbing problems. My kids kept growing (:>))

I love the layout of this Tiny house. I would have a Clic-Clac bed rather than the couch/Murphy bed arrangement. There is storage for the bedding under the sofa seat. We have one in our small house in France and we can push it one way or the other to make room to open out our IKEA Norden table (which has 6 useful storage drawers). A table like that might fit in the small bay area. The table is heavier to move around, but it could be done. I think I could be quite snug in this style of Tiny House. I am wondering if we could build a Tiny House on one of our small plots of land (a vegetable garden or the half acre of field!) near our French house for when our children come to stay.
These are comments, not criticisms, and thinking how I might use the space is a sign I like it enough to be moving in…..in my mind, anyway 🙂

There are so many super nice things about this tiny house that are obvious. I agree, as a home, I’m not crazy about the look of the grey panel from the murphy bed upright but that could be fixed by covering it with perhaps a fabric or some other finish. If you can, check out his web site and view the video; it gives a much better overall view and shows the house’s setting in the trees. It appears like it’s a weekend getaway spot, but could easily be a permanent home as well. He’s done a beautiful job. I am curious though as to why so many of these tiny homes indent the front door when that space could be used inside.

Wow, what an amazing job and space utilization in this unit. He fit in a full size refrigerator, oven and even appears to be drawer dishwasher. The Murphy type bed is super efficient use of the great room space and looks extremely easy to utilize. If you watch his video he shows how it works. I am very impressed with what he did here — I wonder if the bear joins him for a glass of wine on occassion?? ROFL If one was minimalist this could easily be a full time home — certainly has all you need.

Price is great, the layout is nice. My preference would be a Daybed/couch but to each his own. Nice job!
