This tiny house story is a guest post by Stephani – share yours!

I’m building a 18 foot long tiny home. I retired from the military less than a year ago and was not sure what I wanted to do when I grew up.

So I decided to build a tiny house that I will eventually live in while attending college in Texas using my military benefits. Right now the house is being built in Nebraska.

Please enjoy, learn more and re-share below. Thank you!

Awesome job! I’ve seen the little overhang thing where the loft is on a few other houses, but have never seen it on both ends. In such a small space, every little bit counts, so getting that extra footage is a grand idea. Oh, and thank you for sitting in the loft for the picture. It’s often difficult to tell height of them without it.

Absolutely gorgeous variety of woods on the walls/ceiling of your loft! Could I ask what woods those are? I totally respect what your are building – I am dreaming of a tiny home to live in myself someday – best wishes to you and your ultimate outcome …. Valery Lytle, also retired military woman

      Ma’am,

The wood on the walls and ceiling are what is called Blue Beetle Pine. The loft floor is 3/4 inch tongue and groove and the walls and ceiling are 1/2 inch TNG. I also have fir on the front door, birch for the walls around the refrigerator and in the bathroom and pine in a couple more spots.

I am glad that you like it.

Great job so far. Like the over hangs. Got to save space wherever you can. Could we see more pics when you’re all done?

First of all….THANK YOUR FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY!
    You too Valery!
It is looking wonderful. Hope you like living in it just as much. Live outside of Waco, don’t know where you plan on going to school, but there are plenty of good colleges and universities in this state.

Well done, like the wood as it gives the home warmth.
Thank you for your service, as a military grandmother I understand and appreciate your sacrifice for your country.
