I used to get excited about Airstreams but after 8 years of part timing in a 13′ Boler I’m pretty much over low curved roofs and the typical layout of lining things up on either side of a narrow walkway. Now I’m much more excited about opening up space as much as possible and de-emphasizing the long narrow trailer aspect. The open overhead storage may end up looking very cluttered depending on how things are arranged. I do like the white with wood accents but maybe something a bit more low key would work better on the ceiling. All that aside, if it suits the owner then what the rest of think is irrelevant.

I’m with the above comments. I just do not like it. To stark and sterile. Unless it was built to someone’s specs I’m not impressed. Also the water lines appear to be outside the walls. Although I must say the work looks impeccable. This one is a miss as I see it.

I’m fairly new to viewing air streams, so I kinda like the mid century vibe. I must admit that after looking at the fisheye photos of the previous listing, all the squigglies in this one is causing me to feel a little queasy. It will be interesting to see how they finish off the bathroom.

I love that floor! Does anyone know what kind of flooring was used here?

It has the appearance of stained cork. Cork can be stained using woodstain to change its colour. Can’t be certain if it is cork or vinyl. Either way, it would help to give a warm feel underfoot and absorb some of the sound that might echo off the metal surfaces.

Not bad, except for the flooring. What IS that? Frankly, it looks like moldy leaf litter. Yuck.

I like the end arrow style touch. And thank you for sharing your redo with us. Thanks Alex. Why people can’t just not comment when they don’t like something or just say it’s not for them. Insulting others is not the way. God bless you and happy trails!

I love what was done here. I’m not a fan of the floor, to each his own. I have an issue with one tone, clean looking surfaces in bathrooms so the tub/shower is a bit odd looking, not sure what I’m seeing. Over all, very beautiful work!

Sweet design, I enjoyed the pics! I think that the water lines on the outside of the wall give it a steam punk feel I want to build my own tiny house soon and using sheet metal is a modern cheap way to make the house fun and different. Go Wind River!

Too much punk style for my taste. Beside that I agree with Alice and Sandra when it comes to Airstream as such. I would prefer Avion.

It appears what we have here is a design that folks either love or hate. That said, let’s imagine the function. The design offers lots of open space and materials that aren’t fussy, will wear well, respond to a campground context and also provide some funky fun in a shell that’s typically expressed as streamlined on the outside and coated with formica and synthetic fabrics on the inside. So then, you can load it up with any group of folks you’d want to share space with, in snow or rain or muddy weather. It’s a breeze to clean and any gear you carry would only add color and texture and purpose elements to the context and make it feel like you’re really camping. Nothing fussy, no ersatz victorian cottage elements or faux fireplaces – it’s honest. Just a big shiny box that does what it needs to do very well. Take folks camping in just about any way they’d want. And that’s the mark of a successful design. I’ll bet they have many happy adventures in this metal box on wheels.

I think they did a beautiful redo. Maybe I would have done it differently for my tastes, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t done well. We all have unique ideas. Sad to see so much negativity.

Would like to see what it truly looks like without the fisheye lens. Sent

I like it–for one thing there aren’t stairs to be “floating up”. At my age one story is best. I’m not against visible pipes, I even think electric wires in conduit would be a good idea–easier to work on!

nope – we’re not in kindergarten any more. i do imagine however that as adults, we can freely express our opinions without feeling pressured or condemned. the movement is still pretty new, and the field pretty wide open. we learn as much from “mis-steps” as we do from “successes”. looking at this TH, i can see things i would never want, and other things that seem like they might be a good idea. this is how we can grow and mature this movement. some people are passionate about their opinions, and express that passion. but, really, it’s all about each persons’ taste and perspective. i’m glad for all the comments and opinions here.

I was really looking forward to seeing this renovation. With that said, my first impression was shock. I initially found this redesign to be way off the mark. This is surprising to me considering most would consider my taste rather eclectic. I decided to take a closer second look and now feel that, although this isn’t something I’d do with an Airstream, if it suits the people who own it, who am I to judge. There are some very nice elements and others that I feel somewhat contradict the basic theme, but I do get what they are trying to do. It still seems a little disjointed to me, but I’m not the one who has to live in it.

Open storage shelves in a trailer? You’d have to pack everything up before you took off every single time. There’s a reason campers have cabinets with doors that lock.

I’ve never, ever liked the Airstream aesthetic. Especially all the curvedness of it which gives less room inside. I get that the shape means it suffers from less wind buffeting when travelling… but I’d rather have extra space for the living in it component of life.

Reminds me of a school bus converstion. I love the whole tiny idea for structures, but, I’m really tired of the bench along the wall for sitting . I know it’s a storage thing, but I’d rather have cabinets myself and a lounge chair that I could turn any direction. The bathroom looks like an outhouse to me, I don’t get the idea, but hey, I don’t live there. Thanks for the pics.
