“Our manufacturing facility is powered 100% by solar and we utilize a state-of-the-art computer-driven manufacturing process for making our steel frames which virtually eliminates waste. Every piece of steel is cut accurately to length by the automated roll-forming machines, and is assembled on compression tables where everything is screwed together. Whenever practical, we assemble complete panels in the factory, containing external sheathing, insulation and finishes, this minimizes waste, ensures accuracy and virtually eliminates re-work and waste on the job site.

Our manufacturing facility is located at Sonoma Mountain Village, one of the most sustainable developments in the world.”

Thanks for mentioning our YardPods. We are focusing initially on the San Francisco Bay Area, but plan to ship flat-pack kits throughout the USA later in the year.

I have looked at eco-friendly alternatives, so far I have installed solar panels on my home but while looking for a electric car I find the cost doesnt justify it for me. While I am passionate about making green choices whenever possible it is up to people like you and I to spread awareness and let the companies know there is a demand. Your website looks popular and I think you can help influence society with your insight and eco tips. by the way I found your site by searching Prefab: DIY Yard Pod and you were the first result. So I think your website is a good platform to discuss ideas that are thought provoking and influence your readers to go green. – Good luck with your site, you deserve it – Bill

I found the site today and called the company, I read over the site and it claimed a metal frame with a life span of 100 years. After speaking to the guy that answered the phone he told me I could look at on at his house. Do they not have any in kind of facility?

Then he told me he was only doing they out of wood frame now.

Seemed like it was a little shakey of you ask me.

    Not sure about this one.

      Randolf,

I am “the guy who answered the phone.” I am the CEO and a founder of YardPods. As I informed you, we are only shipping to Northern California. You wanted to see a model in Atlanta. I have a showcase YardPod at my house north of San Francisco which you said you would like to visit during one of your trips to California.

The site you “read over” is the 2010 article reported here, not our current website. We have moved on since then. Our current website http://www.podsystems.com shows that we now work in wood framing, not steel. We like steel, but customers did not want to pay the incremental price for steel.

I am sorry that you got the impression we are “a little shaky” I can see that happening when you look at information that is five years old. We are thriving, this year is proving to be our best ever and we have many satisfied customers.
