your tiny home has a cozy and warm feeling to it. It looks well done with the storage areas and woodwork. Even your four legged friend matches the woodwork. All I could say AW, what an adorable looking puppy. Good job on your house!

I like the design. Yet, many questions. When you look at where the bath is, you see what looks like a two panel medicine cabinet because of a reflection or something on the left side of it. However, up close shots make it look like a TV of which can’t be seen by anyone using the commode.

The next question has to do with the shower tub – is this also being used as a sink? I see an electric toothbrush on the opposite wall though no place to use it, unless you walk out naked into the Kitchen are and use that sink.

The third question has to do with the wasted space under the stair case. Do those panels open into closet or shelf spaces or are those panels simply there as decoration to hide what is under the stairs if anything?

Next is the use of the wide angle/fish eye lens which distorts the views. It’s really hard to imagine how wide how something is suppose to be. For instance, it looks like you have a U-shape couch even though that might not be the case. The tires on the outside are cocked inward which gives the appearance there might be structural damage to the underlying trailer. The walls in the bath make it look like it is wider than reality. That’d be a really cool idea if you could actually pull it off though you might loose precious space for the Fridge.

Next is about exhausting unwanted odors from the bath room. I didn’t see any exhaust vents so thinking whomever might be using the commode will definitely impact anyone who is attempting to cook a meal for consumption. Why is that?

Next is safety equipment. With all that wood, I would have thought there might be a few fire extinguishers hanging around. I didn’t see any. The staircase has no hand rails and I can visualize someone falling off of them in the middle of the night trying to get to the bathroom quickly.

So glad I was not the only one noticing this! As if we do not have the imagination to not think the thing was in a wreck due to fish eye lens distortion! And if they want to walk about all day and night naked–muchless brush their teeth that way–who the hell CARES?

        Hysterical.

WOW!!! Negative Nellie: who cares if they brush their teeth naked….afraid of upsetting the birds? I live in a 900sqft rooted home and don’t have a vent in the bathroom….4 of us use that facility and yes its right next to the kitchen, that’s why there is a sliding door on it. My whole house is t&g pine, and I heat with wood, just saying it can be done safely. Can you pick apart anything else? To the owners: This is perfect, I was wondering what you do in that nice neat work space? It would be perfect for my jewelry stuff.

Think hard about spreading germs in the kitchen that should be under control while still in the bathroom! If the kitchen sink is already in use by the cook, there should be a tiny sink in the bathroom to be used anyone that has need of use of a bathroom. Especially important if anyone is not feeling so well or having a period! Gads!! No sink; no sale.

I think Kramer washes all his food in the shower then has his OCD friend over for a meal? Its a great setup as long as you dont have any friends with OCD.

        March 28, 2017, 4:42 pm

We tend to not cook while using the bathroom and make sure to keep cleaning after ourselves. We are pretty tidy people so we do make sure to clean dishes after every time dirtying them. That way when it comes time to brush our teeth, the sink is empty.

If we get sick, we go outside or use the trashcan. We couldn’t justify putting in a small sink in the bathroom and having to add extra plumbing and lose standing space in an already small room. It’s not meant for everyone, just for US, the owners! 🙂

    • Jacqueline Perry
      March 28, 2017, 4:39 pm

      Hey there!

      That is a medicine cabinet/mirror.

We only use the tub for showering. We use the kitchen sink to brush our teeth. We make sure that all dishes are done before doing so.

The cabinets under the stairs are ALLLLLLL storage space so not wasted at all!

We used a wide angle lense for photos because the space is so small that you couldn’t really stand 2 feet away from one side of the hallway and take a good photo of the opposite side. We felt like it showed you more of what was going on in the space and you could tell it wasn’t really that circular shape. The L-shaped couch has hinged tops and there is storage on both sides. It also pulls out into a spare bed.

The trailer was built for our house so it is definitely in great shape!

We have a vent in the shower space and there is a hose with fan that vents the odors from the composting toilet outside.

We have a fire extinguisher right next to the front door but didn’t want it in these photos.

We are young adults that are athletic and nimble so we didn’t want a railing on the stairs.

Hope this answered all your questions!

Very cozy looking little home. I’m curious do the stairs have storage? Also would like to know the dimensions and if they are able to sit up when in the loft. By the way I do like the loft style. Like the windows and sky light. For some my age I would need a stair rail. All in all looks like they have everything they need. Love the dog! he looks very happy there.

    • Jacqueline Perry
      March 28, 2017, 4:44 pm

Beneath the stairs is all our closet space and storage for a variety of things. When I sit up on my bed in the middle of the loft, there are still about 3″ of space above my head. The skylight in the loft is also our secondary escape as it opens up.

Chinook is our dog and he loves home!

That’s a genius idea! I’ve been looking into Japanese soaking tubs and the water troughs but this is perfect. The house is a great design and the staircase looks comfortable to use. I’d need a handrail too lol!

it’s actually an RV tub sold by the company Lyon!

  • Levina
    June 2, 2016, 4:14 pm

    Mr Worth Jr.,
I’m going to try and answer some of your questions
first, it is a medicine cabinet, not a TV
Second, I doubt they use the tub as a sink, and do you always brush your teeth in the nude?….weird….and nothing wrong with using the kitchen sink to brush your teeth, unless that somehow grosses you out…OMG…do you understand anything about ‘tiny living’ and multipurposing your space.
Third, you’re ‘assuming’ wasted space….try assuming storage
Fourth, it’s obvious that the couch is NOT a U-shaped couch, it’s an L-shaped couch…and I see you understand how a fish-eye camera works, so why gripe about it.
Fifth, you again obviously missed the trees for the forest, there is a vent in the bathroom on the shower wall and there is a window that opens (they’re known for ventilation)
and lastly, do you work for OSHA or something, or were you safety monitor at your work?…there are very few tiny homes with handrails, but you can put them in YOUR tiny home, for sure, along with several fire extinquishers (neither are currently required in a free country, but may soon be in the ‘nanny’ country we are becoming)

Very cute place and Levina, I had a pretty crappy (no pun intended) from the exhaustion of two lawsuits and 3 news camera crews pestering me and I thank you so very much for the out loud laughing I experienced after I read your post. You KNOW he was that geeky little Hall Monitor with the plastic badge in grade school! Thank you for the laugh and smile!

This is really a nice looking space. I love the “mountainous” side wall decor. The desk and chair is a welcomed addition. Of course the puppy is adorable. Please dismiss with the fish eye lens though. If it were me I might add a side rail of some sort, and possibly a tub instead of a shower. Though I would much prefer a downstairs bedroom, The loft is planned nicely. All in all, I think this is a great little place and I really like it!

    Brilliantly done!
I’ll dispense with the compliments as to the practicality and usability of the space which have been copiously covered in the other comments and get right to my gripe with many [most] THOW’s but which you handled beautifully.
Hardly any THOW’s I’ve seen actually incorporate a closet for [gulp] HANGING clothes. You did it in exactly the way I had envisioned. In fact, in the very way that has reduced me to a screaming maniac when I look at so many THOW’s, “Why the heck didn’t you put a closet inside the top 2 or 3 stairs, fergoshsakes?!?!?!”

Thank you for saving me that ordeal with your lovely home. Beautifully thought out and finished.

the only concern I have is that I see no place to eat. unless you eat in shifts in the one chair at the desk? or lean over the coffee table on the sofa?

    • Taylor
      June 3, 2016, 9:31 am

Many people do. I’ve never seen much use myself for a dining table. I’ve never actually used mine and as a kid, our family never used ours either (actually, my mom hoards so much junk that there was usually only one spot on the table and one chair cleaned to sit at). They always ate in their recliners, in their separate living rooms.

I love tiny houses because they simplify life but they are also highly individual. There is always something someone wants to change. Some people specifically want no loft, some a big kitchen, some require a washer and dryer (separate, I’ve not heard many good things of those combos), some a dining table. I’ve always lived in small spaces on purpose, finding out what I do and don’t want. Personally, I’d need two desks, a washer and dryer, and stairs because my dog can’t climb a ladder. But, in a tiny house, you have to sacrifice other things to fit the necessities. These people sacrificed the dining room table.

Kevin, I recall reading an article in the 70’s (yes I am getting o–l–d) where they discussed the phenomenon in New York apartments where people didn’t have dining tables but ate at the kitchen sink. They were referred to as Sinkies… long before the term Dinkies etc.

      • Gayle
        June 30, 2016, 2:23 pm

I have 2 “dining” spaces in my 900sqft rooted home. One is covered in sewing machines and the other dust. Been that way for years.

Love this home. Great use of space and color. I loved the storage by your shower and the small storage area by you toliet. I would only change the desk to a small table but other wise it is lovely. Any plans on selling your plan or design in the future.

  • June 3, 2016, 3:21 pm

Jacqueline, your home is amazing! Just love all the woodwork throughout your home. I love the color of your stairs and I’m sure you have lots of storage behind those stairs. Awesome Muriel it’s nicely done!! Your place is very cozy and inviting!! Your dog is so cute!! Both you and your boyfriend did a real nice job!! Enjoy!! Carol????

I so love tiny homes on wheels that have stairs not ladders and a washer/dryer combo like the one shown in this lovely home. For a klutz like me there would have to be some type of barrier in the sleeping loft to prevent me from falling out and going SPLAT on the floor (laughing so hard)

  • Rue
    June 3, 2016, 10:16 pm

I just love this home! It’s got all the necessities in a great layout, and there are so many touches that I like, from the little storage shelves in front of the shower, to the under-stair desk, to the fabulous stove. There’s also a comfortable balance between being organized and feeling lived-in.

The fish-eye lens does make it difficult to tell the actual dimensions of the space, though.

  • Oakberrie
    June 3, 2016, 11:33 pm

Stuart’s question wasn’t answered… please tell us about the stove! Is it a wood burner?

  • Eric
    June 4, 2016, 12:11 am

Anybody know what the white container type thing behind the wood stove is?

    • Aaron
      June 4, 2016, 9:59 am

It’s a dog food container that seals.

  • Vangelis
    June 4, 2016, 7:05 am

Eric, that container behind the stove is a dog food storage container. The type that has the gamma seal lid on it. Pet stores sell those. They are quite nice, could be used to store many things, they are water resistant. The seal works berry well.

There’s a lot to like about this house, but that fish eye lens is driving me crazy. While the stair getting narrower at the bottom is an accident waiting to happen, the clean lines of the under stair storage are really nice. You have a lovely home and a really cute fur baby.

I would have loved to see this house with a milder wide angle lense. The fisheye just distorted the images so much I gave up trying to interpret what I was looking at. Probably a very nice house, but awful photography.

I love this! The only thing I’d change is the toilet. I’d have one of those Japanese water saving toilet/ sink combos where the sink is on the back of the tank which collects the hand washing water to use to flush the toilet.http://eco-buildingproducts.com/product/sinkpositive-toilet-sink-accessory-conserves-water/?gclid=CjwKEAjww_a8BRDB-O-OqZb_vRASJAA9yrc51cJjT6eiTt5W2Jdd24UKQiDfFhsU8HdSJ6OWXsGIoRoCdsXw_wcB

Very nice tiny house and I like it’s rustic charm… I only have one question, are you a big eggplant eater, because when I look at the photo’s of the bathroom I think eggplant right away… The purple and green paint combo automatically just screams eggplant…! LoL…! But I have to admit and say it’s fun and whimsical to look at and adds your own stamp on your tiny house…

The shingles on the roof are unique. Never saw that kind before. Also, it looks very comfy, and I like the wall of “smoky mountains” whether it’s wallpaper or painted. It’s very pleasing. Stairs look kind of steep, but when you’re young and tall, they’re doable. Shorter folks would have a harder time with them being a little steep. Quite roomy looking for a tiny house!
