Partially Underwater Tiny Floating House with Upper Deck

This post contains affiliate links.

This underwater tiny floating house is on the remote island called Pemba Island off the coast of Tanzania near Tanga. This little floating cabin is at a place called Manta Resort.

It looks like a tiny floating home but it also has a rooftop deck. You’ll also find an incredible outdoor space to relax right on the water. There’s also an outdoor shower here and access to a bathroom. But it gets better..

When you go inside there’s even access to an underwater bedroom where you can sleep with the fishes (and manta rays). Please enjoy the entire tour and re-share below. Thank you!

Love it! Might be a bit claustrophobic generating at first but I bet you’d get used to being underwater when you sleep.

It is beautiful that is not debatable but that bedroom I don’t know. If for any reason there is a leak. Also can’t sharks and other sea creatures get in there just by kind of leaping a bit? But clever idea I just would keep one eye open lol

I would SERIOUSLY retire on something like that! I wonder how much it would cost? Wonder what the square footage is. What company sells these?

No idea on cost, Jo, sorry. It’s something that was custom done.

Wouldn’t the salt water eat away the wood after awhile ? What about hurricanes or tsunami ?? Great idea, but lots of safety concerns. Don’t know about breaching sharks, but what about octopus, squid on windows ? Whales ?

I have heard of such houses, and I have seen many a dramatic rendition of some architect’s fantasy aquatic houses, And non of them looked, or sounded like the description such as this one conveys.. But then again I did say they were some architect’s fantasy didn’t I…?

EVEN THOUGH I AM A BEACH AND SANDY TROPICAL LADY MYSELF, I REALLY DO NOT LIKE A BOATHOUSE TYPE OF IDEA, BUT THEN AGAIN THERE ARE DIFFERENT HOUSES TO ENTERTAIN ALL THE TASTE BUDS. I WOULD STRONGLY ADVISE, AND CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH, THAT IF A PERSON WANTS A HOUSE LIKE THIS ONE, THEY HAD BETTER BE A PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE AND KNOW HOW TO SWIM AND FOR MANY MILES. I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT NO SENIOR CITIZEN BE ATTRACTED TO THIS KIND OF LIFE.

I’ve been there and it is lovely and unique. Folks even dive off the top story (3 levels) and a we enjoyed sundowners there as well as a nice meal.
