I was watching this video of women living in montero suv. I have wanted to do something like this. I am not being critical, but would like to ask the following for my own information. She has lived so long in the suv, and I would like to know why she hasn’t chosen a very small motorhome. There must be a good reason and I don’t want to make a wrong purchase.

I live in it because it’s what I have, and all I can afford at this time (three years of financial set-backs). I’d like to upgrade to a truck with a camper shell, one day…for now, I’m happy with this. I kind of slowly moved into this lifestyle, I didn’t plan it like some. You can learn more about the why’s etc. on my blog http://NomadforNature.wordpress.com. Good luck with your choices, it is an individual choice for everyone, there is no right way or right vehicle. ~ Roxy ~ Savor the Journey

    Very nice!

Great job arranging your little mobile home. You’ve done a great job organizing everything, and your reward is the freedom to live and be wherever you desire to live and be in any given moment. Kudos!

Bob, another great video from you.

Roxy Whalley is one special lady!!! I am living through her vicariously for sure. (in my past life, I too, was a nomad)
I just hope all this attention she is getting lately is for her benefit.

Visit this web page:// http://www.CheapRVLiving.com/ you can get tons of ideas. In the meantime, lots of rugs for insulation, maybe a little buddy heater… raise yourself up off the floor, etc….really, visit the web page, it covers just about everything you could want to know.

Too bad so many Americans are in this place due to our jobs being shipped overseas and even the immigrants taking our jobs. It is a sorry state the US is in with 92 million unemployed.

Nita, I think your comment on this site is way off track. Get a clue before making stupid remarks.

    Hi Roxy,
I have watched your videos to get some idea of my upcomimg adventure. I am a 62yo woman with a wanderlust. My husband doesn’t share my passion. I have wanted a small motorhome or truck camper for many years but H hasn’t agreed. This summer I am heading out alone in our GMC Acadia for a month by myself. I am really excited. I have my bed planned and camp gear organized. I even did a trial run in FL with my kids/grandkids. This summer will be my practice trip. If I love it I will continue while slowly trying to figure out what kind of a set-up would work best for me. I think there is somewhere a sweet spot between comfort, price and moveablity. I just don’t know where that is yet. Thanks for the inspiration.

Hi Lin, how odd that was just looking at what kind of power supply to use for the next 2-3 months that I also will be out there browsing the states. And strange, we are close to the same age. I have also been trying to decide weather more comfort in very small motorhome or cheaper and able to park and sleep with less restrictions in a van. Good for you, and good luck. I also had watched her video in the past and figured if she can, than I can too.

Kim…When I started researching my trip I was surprised by how many nomads there are out there. When I was camping with my kids in FL I met a man who I would guess was mid-to-late 70s living in his van for 5 years. I got talking to him about my plans and he commented that he had decided at his stage of life he needed a bed and a toilet! He was looking for a vehicle that would provide him more comfort. I can see that if you are living full-time. Is that your plan? Full-time? There is so much info out there about this subject. I have a normal, suburban life (well rural really), but you know what I mean! I crave adventure. I have told my three grown sons about my plan and they are accepting. I told the women in my book club last week and they are thrilled for me. I have received a much more positive reaction from everyone than I expected. The only one rolling his eyes is my husband!! It seems that most of my galpals love the idea. I thought everyone would think I was crazy, but apparently not. I do not feel afraid. I am not worried about being lonely. What I really wonder is whether I will want to return after my month of soul searching and solitude.
You didn’t say, are you traveling in a van? Have you done it before? How has your plan been received? It is interesting to hear from like-minded women.
    Cheers, Lin

Hi Lin, how interesting that there are so many that are thinking of this. I have researched it off and on, but am now in a position to go ahead with it. I have to admit, I have had some similar but also different experience. I drove truck around the country for 25yrs. I quit about a year and half ago. So I am used to living in a confined space. So, my people don’t think much of it. They are used to me being out there. I am still trying to decide weather to rough it and go van or go with a small RV that is not such good gas mileage and more upkeep. Amazing that person at 70 stayed 5 yrs without extra comforts. Nice. I will probably go out there in middle of June for 2 or 3 mo pretty much full time. I might cheat once in a while and stay in a hotel once or twice in the month. No real plan. Just wander and see things that I couldn’t see all those years. I think you will love it. Good for you. Your husband might see how much fun your having, and maybe get out there also. Have a great adventure, and maybe keep us all updated as to how its going.
