How cool! A very refreshing twist worth at least a penny or two thousand. I like the transom lite over the bathroom door. That is a detail lost through the past 50 years. Looks very ready for life, enjoy.

WOW this seems like one of the better ones yet. Like the fact there is no loft, nicely laid out . Would have like to see a floor plan..

I love this THOW! It’s perfect for those of us who are older, and don’t want to be climbing stairs to get to a bed. Zyl Vardos always builds the most beautiful and amazing homes!

How did I know, before reading a word, that this was a Zyl Vardos house? Oh, that’s right, because it’s not just a home – it’s a work of art. And, once again, he has outdone himself!

Would love to have seen inside the cupboard next to the bed. I take it that that’s a closet for **gulp!** hanging clothes? Another feature Zyl includes that so many ignore.

    Beautiful home.

absolutely love it….the only changes I would make are skylights, metal roof, full sized refrigerator with washer and dryer.
I think the windows are too big in places for me like in the shower.
But would love to know if you have floor plans and how to do it that I could see,
      Grand Rapids , MI’
I will have a tiny house sometime in 2017 for sure. I want to be completely off the grid would probably have to add a utility shed on the back LOVE THE FLOOR PLAN IN GENERAL.

Zyl, thank you for including those two selfies! I have warched all of your videos over the years, but somehow I knew there was “more” of you to see. You are a fine craftsperson……and apparently a fun guy!!!! I love this little house. It’s space is very well planned out – for a smaller tiny house, there’s lots of storage.

Beautiful little home. I would love a hobbit style house like this. I love that the bed is on the lower level, but I wouldn’t mind a loft if it had a stair case with rails and good ceiling height. Speaking of which are the laws different in Washington that the height can be 14′. I always thought it can’t go over 13.5. I would love to see this house decorated with a more famine touch. It’s so cute on the outside, seems like a woman should be living in it.

The height limit varies by state. In California it is 14 feet. Check on your state’s department of transportation website to see your limit. If you want to cross state lines, 13’6″ is wiser.

Lovely! Everything is just right and mainly on one floor too, I like that. Might be just the thing I am looking for, if you had a floor plan too. Great job on all the wood work!

Beautiful! Love that it is not over decorated, lot of people tend to forget that the whole purpose was to down size. Less is best! Thanks Alex for this one.

I so love this. So much so, I can’t find a thing in the photos I’d need to modify for my use. Small yet spacious. Love the use of wood and cooper. The tub selection is a fun touch. All the windows to allow one to be part of the outside and observe wildlife. I can really see myself there living and working. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Some houses evoke the “food”, this has the fabulous charm of a large
chocolate cake. But in realities have sought in particular special
and a beautiful rounded line with unequal windows. Communicate, send, it is Art

Oops, forgot to mention: Love the copper sink and the DRAWERS in the kitchen. That is really neat because they look like they would hold a lot.

Of course it’s a beautiful house it’s one of Zyl’s Vardos, I have yet to see some thing done by him I did not like yet… My first and always will be my first love, is his vardos.. OK…! It’s not a traditional vardo but it was done in great taste, and with class… I don’t think anyone could argue that point…! And if they did, they don’t have a clue what they are talking about… OK…! It’s not the Baldwin traditional vardo built by two retired collage professors, or the one that was just shown on tiny house talk just recently…. But this man adds a flair to his Vardos that just make sense… Enough said….!

    • Lisa E.
      August 1, 2016, 1:31 am

Zachary: The word “vardo” means “living wagon”. So, it doesn’t have to be traditional. A living wagon is a living wagon. I think the thing that defines it the most is the half-barrel roof. After that, it’s up to the creator, wouldn’t you agree?

Didn’t think I would like this but I LOVE it. Bed on the same floor as the rest of the home and a actually size bathtub. Love the penny floor and would love to hear more on how he did it.

Love this one! Perfect for me….I think. 2questions. Where is the fridge? I know u must have one in there and where would I hang a TV?

    • Beth Grant DeRoos

Refrigerator is opposite the stove in photo 10 or 11. Not all of us tiny house folks own a tv

DEE-LIGHT-FULL!!!! This is so cute I can hardly stand it. But I would need more storage, maybe a cute shed with shelves and bins and a w/d set up. Lol. And while I’m dreaming a piece of land all my own. Thanks, Alex, for showing what’s out there. 😀

Very beautiful little house, but isn’t that a half foot too tall for towing under bridges?

  • Michele
    September 20, 2016, 4:04 pm

My favorite part are the recliners. I’ve always thought those narrow, hard sofas look too uncomfortable. Placing swivel recliners around a table makes the most sense in such a small place. Comfort and practability.

The inside is really lacking compared to so many other homes we have see here… And what’s the obsession with covering a house with shingles? To each his own!
    Is this 80,000 too?!?! Ha!

    • Beth Grant DeRoos
      September 22, 2016, 11:54 pm

Susanne cedar shingles are very common in many traditional homes in a state like Washington where they get a lot of rain. Great in rain, great added insulation factor.

Love the door, the canopy above it, the steps, the table and the bed. Something I don’t understand is why the bathroom sink is more useable than the kitchen sink. It’s too shallow to wash pots and pans, or do you use the bathroom sink for that? I like to cook and it would not work for me, especially a divided metal sink. Give me the old one bowl ceramic sink and I would be happy.
