This modern backyard writer’s cabin was designed by Jarmund/Vigsnæs Architects because the client wanted a separate space to get away from the main house to focus on writing.
Inside you’ll notice a split level floor plan. The first floor is the main writing space with a glass desk and bookshelves built into a timber staircase. The upper level is a great space for relaxing and reading that overlooks the main workspace below. Notice the unique zig-zag rope that acts as a barrier between the staircase and loft areas.

Such a imaginative banister…Gives one a hand on or down, a little feeling of safety.
How cool is this? Those great glass walls, all the wood, the stairs, and the rope railing make it feel to me like a treehouse or a boat, for some reason, although it’s clearly grounded.
Love this site and all the interesting iterations of “tiny” portrayed here.
Where is this located? What state?
The writer’s plexiglass/glass table looks out into a parking lot of some fashion. Look beyond the trees and you’ll see cars parked. Really? Not exactly what I’d envision for a good writing space.
