Luxurious Tiny Cabin with a Touch of Country

This post contains affiliate links.

This luxurious tiny cabin is called the Shepherds Rest and is being used as a vacation rental alongside the Shepherds Delight which I’ve shown you here before.

It sits alongside a few other cabins in the woods with view of a lake nearby. It’s definitely a very peaceful setting and I wouldn’t mind living the simple life in this little cabin, how about you?

This luxurious tiny home has a great one level floor plan so there’s no upstairs sleeping lofts or anything like that. And it boasts a wonderful kitchen and outdoor space to hang out in.

Lori, you might suggest it as a work project for to the Woodworking Professor 🙂 They do it in some high schools perhaps a college could do it more economically, more on the “green” side of things? Just a thought, hope it helps.
Who knows maybe they will build it for you for their passing. In the meantime, start saving for the materials. 🙂 a little at a time. God bless you hope it all turns out.

Great home. Good finishes. Really like the way the designer kept the interior objects below eye level making the inside appear much larger. Many of the tiny homes I’ve seen obscure the sight-line with cabinets giving an enclosed feeling. Good work on this one.

      Seconded on sight-lines.

Heated towel rack! Wooeee, mama, we’re there!

Lordy be… heated towel rails have been “a thing” in New Zealand for over 30 years. Mebbe the USofA is a tad behind the times methinks.

Great project, interior looks like could have come right out of the pages of Archertical Digest.
Realizing that cost would vary between San Diego, CA and Spur, Texas, is there a projected cost for building this magnificent Tiny Home.
At 88 this OleDog is hun’tn new tricks and this could be a dream come true.

    Hey Alex!

Been loving the blog for a little while. Great work. Have you seen any builders who would be capable of creating something like these cabins?

Great but needs more window area.

I like this- exactly what one person needs. And, not a granite counter top in sight- instead, useful, sensible butcher block.

Do you know the overall dimensions??

I like it too. I like that the kitchen is longer, and no loft. More closet space could be added with some creativity. Nice home.

Love the open design and the red teakettle on the heat stove. Looks like enough storage under the bed to suit anyone living small and simple.
I would be happy living here!

What makes it special is the deck and lovely view …:)

Downloaded the original shepherds cottage when you last posted it. And after looking at the photos I’m pretty sure let’s say 97% sure that these are the photos from the original. I hope that that’s just a mistake or we might want to try being a little bit more “original”

I have seen this one several times before, and as always, love it dearly. It is one of my favorite shepherd’s huts, filled with charm.

Lovely. I am especially fond of the deck and those Euro-style French doors. Are the doors available in the U.S.?

  • April 10, 2016, 9:27 pm

This really is a great design. To make it workable for me … I’d add extra space for washer/dryer and more storage. And I’d open it up with skylights and windows (a big bay window next to the bed would be fabulous). For a wrap, I’d surround the front and one side with a covered patio.

I really like this. It’s pretty and functional, with a great kitchen space, even acknowledging some of the issues like storage. I already have ideas for setting it up just a little differently yet still maintaining the overall feel. I would love to live in this in a community that enabled small living with some shared spaces.

The tiny houses on the lake looks like a wonderful community. If there is a comprehensive listing of communities like this in the US, I would love to see it. I am a senior, ready to have my house built, or buy one, as soon as I can find the right location. (hopefully in the northeast)
