It’s a nice tiny house and I wish her the best of luck with it, but I would have not had it built with that second door as it takes up a lot of valuable space that could be used for main living area…

Some folks concerned with fires like having a second point of egress, but I understand the concern about space.

You do realize it’s only less than 8 ft. across from the main entry door..?

Haha it’s a tiny home 🙂 I’m just saying that might be why she chose it. I’d put another one in the bathroom if it were my tiny.

That was fun to see! Exciting! ( thanks for telling us where to start in the video). …..:) would love to see a follow-up of at least a month or more on how they feel AFTER living in it for a few months….?

She paid over 100 grand for this place. Too much cash. build your own and save.

Jill, not everybody has the skill, nor the time, to build themselves. Speaking as the son of a builder I’ve got 2 left hands that are about as coordinated as a bunch of chickens.

Still, $100k is a LOT of money for what it is.

I mean, if she was happy with it, then I think we shouldn’t judge 🙂

Not my style or color theme, but if Lizzy is happy with her home, I am happy for her. Well done!

Understandably it is her right and she is happy with that and I am happy for her happiness. I am just stating that that is a whole lot of cash to fork out when many reasons for going tiny is to save and not spend or overspend on Tiny. Does anyone know the resale values on Tinies yet? will that drive the market much higher and knock most lower waged people out of this possibility as well? Just curious to know if anyone has any facts to show where the movement of Tiny is headed?

From what I see with tiny houses for re-sale on THT, most people sell their homes for less than they purchased them.

So Natalie, You are stating that they depreciate such as mobile homes do on the market and we won’t have to worry as much about prices being driven up like bigger McMansions are?

I’m no economist (#EnglishMajor), but honestly I think these more expensive THOWs are going to start going down in price because there are so many more builders out there, and fewer and fewer places to park tiny houses. Basically, the market is being flooded right now, and people are reselling because, unfortunately, most towns aren’t tiny house friendly. I’ve never seen a THOW appreciate in value, and I think unless there are big changes to housing laws soon, you’ll see the prices start dropping again.

One of my favorite posts in the many years I’ve been reading Alex’s newsletter. I loved seeing someone so excited about owning their first home and then seeing her joy on taking possession of it. Fantastic!! Wishing her all the best in her new home!!

Wow! Lizzy’s video was amazing! She is going to have so much fun decorating and adding her furniture and things to her little place! I love her porch for her plants, she could fix it up real cute! I would love to see another video of her place after she decorates it!

Thanks for inviting me and sharing it!?

      Of course!

Lovely and simple. I do like the LIGHT interior, looks so different than one with dark wood or black. I am still partial to steel framed homes because of the weight savings (AND saving trees), but most builders use wood. Does seem like a pricey home though. namaste’, rachel

    Hi Everyone!

It’s me, Lizzy 🙂 I saw this discussion and figured I would say hi! The house cost a lot yes, but having someone build it for me made it insurable for about $50 on my current insurance. AKA if it falls off a cliff or I back it into a gas station or it catches on fire or breaks in half or gets driven into it is covered. That is the true reason I had someone else build it. The house itself is *not* insurable for its value including labor costs unless it is a certified RV that is build by a certified builder! The peace of mind when I am driving my tiny down the road with crazy drivers on black ice is well worth the $100k to me 😛 Also, I put the second door on the side for easy access to all the hookups and for airflow. We are working on purchasing some land where we will build a “docking station”. Imagine a porch that you drive your tiny house up to! The 2 doors mean people can go in and out as they want without walking into each other. It also helps with air flow, which is a major issue in a tiny house… tiny houses often have moisture problems and you can actually kill yourself by cooking with all the windows closed. The side door I can block if I want to so I can have back the space if I want to but its a nice option. Thanks everyone for commenting, yes I know it is a different style than a lot of houses but it uses natural materials and I can decorate it easily with whatever colors I am in the mood for! I love it SO much and will be posting more videos towards the end of the summer. If you have questions please let me know! I turned on notifications on here so I should get them 🙂

    Love,
    Lizzy
