This Blue Bird Bus Conversion is a guest post by Becca Hanson

Hello Tiny House Folks, wonderful day to you from Redmond, Oregon! My husband and our dogs are almost complete with our Blue Bird School Bus Conversion.

We own a non-profit in Central Oregon called Full Circle Outreach Center, where we serve over 4000 lives each year with our warehouse of upcycled supplies and loads of love and resourcing. After 13 years of being established and finding huge success we felt our next move is for us to give up our home and build a tiny house, so we chose school bus living and are almost complete.

Our buses are named, Matthew and Mark, one is our home bus and the other is our mobile office. The bus living has turned into an education center for high-risk youth and people struggling to find housing, we are hoping that we can donate a bus conversion a year to a family in need and make it an even bigger community involved project.

    Hi Becca & Hubby,

Hats off to both of you for all that precious work that you do for these families. We need more people in this world that are giving and have huge hearts like you!! I left you a message on your FaceBook. I always wondered how you could set things up on a bus and you have done a great job!! Your dogs are adorable!! Keep up the good work! Carol Perry

Thank you for the show of support Carol. I will try and find you on the FB I have not seen a message yet? I’ll double check though. We have two speaking engagement scheduled this month on alternative housing and our testimony as to the “why” behind our bus living. The show of support is truly appreciated as we further reach out to teach and to live. Please stay tuned on our FB and blog as we will be starting a youtube channel soon also, will be bringing our trip back to India to all of you also. This winter we have planned a night of invite to our community to dwell one night in the winter to understand the cold and how we need more alternative housing ideas and open community for those needing this positive, inventive change in order to live better and with more hope and freedom. Have a terrific day today, Carol. Ole Rebecca Hanson (Facebook) or Full Circle Outreach Center (facebook) or fullcirclebluebird.wordpress.com

God Bless you both!! What a beautiful thing you are doing!!
Per all other comments, the world needs more people like you two ?!
My husband & I have 3 pups of our own and enjoyed seeing yours ???☺️
Thank you for “saving” families from homelessness! Many of us have worked hard, raised children and have had unforeseen circumstances which leave us “out in the cold”.
We’re also facing difficulties and really appreciate what you and your husband are doing! You’re in our prayers ??, and again, “Thank You”

Wow! He looks like Keiffer Sutherland! Great looking conversion so far. Looking forward to seeing more, and love the reason behind the building. Be safe!

With a home so full of love would it matter how small it is, really? Very nice, thanks for sharing. God bless you all. Happy trails!

What it the height from the floor to the center of the roof? It looks low to me, other than that question, love what you are doing!

My husband stands @ 5 ft 11 inches and can stand in the middle with a few inches to spare. Once the shower is installed he will fit a bit tightly but all in all it is worth it and easily comfortable. The flooring and insulation underneath it added a few inches. However, I am only 5 ft 2 inches so I enjoy every bridge in the ceiling with ease 🙂 Have a terrific day today and God bless you and thank you for the support. Please stay tuned as we continue to share our journey on our FB and our blog.

Love those doggies too. Such cute pictures! Made me smile.

    The best to you always!

I like the inside color of your bus. Looks just like our 1995 BB. We used Valspar “Cool Cucumber”!! We live in SW Idaho so it is COLD now but we hope to have ours finished by May 2016.

Wow, I really love this one! Checking out your buses, here and on your blog, you two seem to have nailed the mix between comfort, budget and looks. Your bus looks affordable and doable, but cozy and cute– which is so inspiring!

Your work might help me convince my boyfriend to do this as he has been intimidated by the enormous scope of considering a DIY build of an entire tiny house or bus conversion. The examples I have shown him in the past– either they didn’t come out so great as your buses, or they looked too “professional” or fancy/expensive to seem feasible to him.

Even better than just the inspiration from looking at your work would be if you guys could make a seminar or classes of some sort! The tiny movement is big, especially in the PNW, but there are a lot of people out there who can’t afford a Tumbleweed and a truck to pull it. And yet minimizing would do a world of good for lot of folks. Or going tiny could provide people who couldn’t otherwise afford a home a cozy place to live. Love it! And that cozy feeling is what I get from the pictures of your bus build, even unfinished as it is. 🙂

Well, before I babble my keyboard off: good luck with the rest of your build and your Full Circle project! Love those sweet dogs of yours, too!
