OMG & WOW! I too have been looking at converting a horse trailer! My only concern is I live and travel in colder climes. Insulation added takes up space making the insides even smaller dimensions. Considered building/boxing outside for the insulation, but believe this would detract from the trailer charm. Anyway, well done and so love the decor!!

And again you have hit my VARDO button….I love this unit a LOT. I can see even if a lot of the structure is metal, in warm climates it can be made to work. Being a fifth wheel also means a better tow package and easier parking.

Well its not a vardo. Vardos are wagons.

sadly, i don’t see that there is any insulation in this….limiting the livability to a very small temperate part of the nation….nowhere hot or cold.

perhaps it can be added to the roof, but not without affecting appearance substantially.

True, but if you had the budget to built one from scratch then SIPs/MIPs could be clad to keep the look and as long as everything is properly scaled it would seem the same until you measured the wall thickness.

Helps that SIPs/MIPs provide 100% coverage, since there are no studs breaking it up, and it’s more easily made air tight for a more effective envelop… So even just 2 inches can be enough for most of the country’s climate zones…

Though, like most RV’s, you could simply travel and keep ahead of the changing seasons so you’re only in an area during the more temperate seasons and just avoid the temperature extremes…

But for those wanting an authentic style Gypsy Wagon experience, then this delivers… ;-p

I really like this build. Very eclectic ! Always enjoy all the various ways people build out and customize their rigs. Not my style but still cool. Almost feels like you are going into another era of time stepping into this one.

This is beautifully done! Thanks so much for sharing it with us.
As for insulation, what about the Reflectix? you could place 2″ of this around the walls. one or two on floor and three on ceiling, w/o taking up too awful much space. Certainly not more than regular insulation takes. It’s a thought. Happy trails everyone!
