This is an HGTV tiny house that’s for sale now.

The 210 sq. ft. tiny home was built by a young woman and her father for her thesis project, and she is going to use the money from the sale to build another tiny house. Enjoy!

I am selling my 210 sq. ft tiny house on wheels. This house was built by my father and I for my thesis project and we enjoyed it so much we want to do again. This sell will help fund the next build.

I have come to the realization….. that the HGTV home are always up for sale. Are any of the original owners the houses were built for still in the homes?

Same thing I was thinking Katie. I wish they would build me a home. I will actually live in it.

Me too! But, I want what I want, my ideas, not some production crew that wants to cut things out because of production and filming time constraints. I have had my own plans for years now, and I believe settling for anything less would be living someone else’s dream, not mine. One day maybe….

There is the one show, that seems to push people into making downsizing decisions. Most of those houses went up for sale in a year or less. Or when they go back to visit, the people did want they wanted, and therefore the spaces were cramped and less of a polished look. Or how about all of these tiny house people, and none of them actually live in their houses. They are airbnb’s or extra room/guest quarters.
I also laugh and shake my head when they have couples on, who want desperately to downsize and go tiny. However, they want a full sized bathroom with full size bathtub, and a full sized kitchen with full sized appliances, a huge closet, a full sized washer dryer. Then they go and look at tiny houses (that they requested) and say, “this is too tiny” . I actually start talking to the tv screen. What do you expect? you requested tiny…. Anyways, it seems those homes also appear for sale as well.
It is good to see others like you have noticed it as well. I started following Shafer back in early 2006… and fell in love with the idea. I would love to have MY plans come to fruition.

I read a lot of the houses were rushed and had issues with leaks and many people were not happy.

Sometimes they are rushed, but, it could be that after living in one for a year or even less they decide it just isn’t for them. It takes a certain type of person to live in a trailer, which is what a Tiny Home really is. If you watch the cable channel fyi program Tiny House Nation it’s one thing to see a program filmed with lenses and angles that make things bigger than they are. My bathroom is 8×12 some of these Tiny Houses are 8×16 or just a little larger than my bathroom, and they are getting a whole house in it. Some of these people have to give up a lot.

That’s very likely. But also that people’s lives change. Tiny Houses can be great transitional housing for a time while someone is saving to afford a small home. Or they have a baby they weren’t expecting. Or they get a job in a city and can’t find a new place to park their tiny. — Tiny House Talk Team

Very true, I see your point, and we all know how things in life can change very quickly and unexpectedly. Good and Bad… I want one for permanent housing. When I look back on my life, I was the most happy when I lived in smaller quarters. Especially my eighth of an eight man tent. I had my space off the hook. I dream of the day when I can go tiny.

Yeah I’d like to know why also why so many people selling them… But I truly believe a tiny house is realistic for many people ( especially without kids) as long as it’s planned out well,’which we know is crucial, for their particular needs and likes.

Yes kids are often a part of it but it would not be easy- you have kids Natalie?
I do, and they have endless energy- so in a larger home they can run, jump, play
In a safe environment, regardless of the weather, while mom is doing various things …. Even use a small scooter or tricycle. But not in a TH. They can not just be ” let loose” outside unsupervised, the younger they are. At least not here anyway. Don’t know about Scotland.

I was agreeing with you Susanne. I think the reason people move out of tiny homes is because it’s hard to have small children with endless energy in a tiny space. Maybe a small space, but not under 200 sq. ft. So a couple buys one, has a baby, and once that baby can run around decides to upgrade.
