Two Day Hands On Tiny House Workshop in Cumming, GA: How to Build Tiny

If you’ve been wanting to learn how to build a tiny house on a trailer a hands on workshop is a great way to gain experience in carpentry and construction in a safe (and encouraging) environment.

I also like workshops because you get to meet and hangout with usually a couple dozen other like minded people who are also into tiny living.

So if you’re interested in learning how to build alongside other enthusiasts in an environment where you can learn, do, and connect with others I highly recommend Dan Louche’s workshop.

Who Will Be There?

Dan Louche, owner of Tiny Home Builders, will be leading the class. He’s designed and built several tiny homes since 2009 and has spoken at several events and hosted a few of his own workshops with happy attendants who have gone on to build their own tiny homes.

Also- Laura LaVoie- of 120SquareFeet.com will be there to share her experiences in designing, living, and even working out of her 120 sq. ft. tiny cabin in the mountains with her husband.

What Will Be Covered?

  • Design strategies
  • Tips on building codes and zoning
  • Tools you’ll need and how to use them safely
  • How to find the best deal on your materials
  • Where to get your trailer (if you’re building on wheels)
  • Framing and sheathing
  • Siding and roofing
  • Windows and doors
  • Electricity and plumbing

And much more.

Why a Hands on Workshop?

You’ll get to tour a real tiny house in person that will be on site so you can get a feel of what it’s like to be in one.

And did I mention you will leave with real life carpentry and construction experience since you will help build several components of a tiny home because there’s no better way to learn than by doing.

Where?

The event will be held in Cumming, Georgia which is north of Atlanta on a small 5 acre farm. Nearby accommodations are listed here (just click on the Workshops tab at the top once you get there).

When?

The event is this May 24-25, 2014 (Saturday and Sunday).

How to Attend

Just head on over to the Tiny Home Builders website to sign up (then click on workshops at the top) and pay for your tickets and you’ll be all set. From there you will be contacted by Dan Louche with the rest of the information you’ll need to attend.

=> Get your tickets here (the earlier you get your tickets the more you can save)

Again.. once your at the site, click on workshops tab at the top.

Alternative Ways to Start Learning (if you’re pretty serious about it)

Alternatively, if you’re not ready for a workshop just yet, you can consider learning the concepts of how to build using Dan’s Tiny House Construction Guide and Video Series.
