Family of Four’s Beautiful 1100 Sq. Ft. Small Cottage

This home is bigger than it looks! But even at 1,100 square feet, it’s actually still considered a small house for a lot of people and I thought maybe you may still enjoy it? If not, head back to the tiny house section!

But since tiny doesn’t work for everyone (and life constantly changes), I think it’s important for us to explore small homes too! That’s why I started The Small House Newsletter (and we’ve had a small house section for years). So this is the Columbia City Cottage. It was designed for a family of four and includes three bedrooms and two bathrooms. What do you think?

I am trying to sign up for the small house newsletter, but it keeps telling me to confirm it from the email I received. I didn’t receive an email. What can I do?

Hi Ramona, I will try adding you manually, then double check your email for a confirmation (also check your spam or junk folders)

Alex, I used to get the daily newsletter and all of a sudden it stopped. I loved it and thought maybe I got kicked out for some reason. I hope not, but I have tried to sign up again but it does not do anything. Can you manually get me back in?

Just love this home! Especially the front yard looks really nice with the cement work and the landscaping! I love the shape of this home! The kitchen is just gorgeous! I love the glass inserts in the cabinets, really nice! I love all the touches this home has to offer!🌻

I like this Cottage. It’s just right for when the grandchildren want a sleepover at Meme’s. I tried the link hoping to get a more detailed look at the 2 bathrooms and the 3 bedrooms, but a window popped up saying the link no longer works. :~( The use of color is well played out in that kitchen, I can see a lot of cookies and pies being created on that bar. Good job.

looks like there is plenty of room and it is smaller than my present house.

light, open spaces make a lot of sense in a small home. there are some clever storage that this builder/designer has included:
*the small closet at the foot of the stair, only the width of the countertop, but clearly defines the entry to above.
*the horizontal open shelving beyond the kitchen, that seems to define a breakfast room or dining area.
am i seeing a hint of a balcony off a back bedroom? (asymmetrical roof, with lots of light washing in from that direction)
    well done.
from the limited photos this is very well done.

no, change my mind….the bedroom asymmetry is because of a closet. (judging from the light pattern, and trees, this is the front of the house.)

Pretty much the size and type of house I grew up in. But much more stylish!

Hi Connie, yes, I’ll add your email to it now.

FYI, I have not been sending it daily lately because I haven’t had as much content, but working on getting there.

Love the wood plank (?) walls and ceilings on the upper level. I’m sick of drywall.
