Eddie Williams of Green Life Shelters has shared this awesome 8×12 tiny house design as part of our 2015 8×12 tiny house design contest.

It’s a tiny two-story tiny cabin with a covered front porch and a unique roof line with skylight and plenty of windows throughout.

When you go inside you’ll see your kitchen straight ahead and micro living area to your right with wall mounted television and ladder that takes you up to the loft. The bathroom is to your left.

I have a console piano. So the doors have to be wide enough or use french doors.

Although I appreciate the unique Gull-Wing roof design, the Pragmatist Within me thinks: A) Leaf-Debris Catcher all Growing Season, and B) Ice Dam in Winter.

Sorry, but in Michigan or any place that is NOT desert or island locals, Life is MESSY!

with a one piece metal roof ice dams will not happen. leafs can easily be swept away with a simple leaf blower.

Thanks so much. Its hard to fit all the things you need to live in such a small space. There is a Dickenson propane heater above the couch, the roof is designed to let water poor into a barrel filter on the ground which then flows into the underground cistern. An aquasana water filtration system under the floor then filters water for drinking water. There is also an on demand hot water heater on the back on house for nice hot showers.

I like the winged roof. This would be great for collecting rainwater. Also looks like a person of average height could stand-up in the loft. True?
