This wee capsule just PROVES that a micro house CAN & DOES have an indoor LOO!!!! So many micro homes skip the need to have a loo indoors, opting to use “Granny’s” in the main house of the land they are living upon.

We would have loved this bitsy abode years ago when we went to Galena to ski. Everything you need and then some. 😀

Thanks Cahow! Yes! These little capsule homes seem great for adventures like skiing, etc. 😀

Just curious on how much one of these eco capsule is??

    Not for the claustrophobic. <—–me!

Lynnette, being claustrophobic, would that rule you out of virtually every tiny home? Not criticising, just wondering.

It’s perfectly fine to be not able to have a tiny home but love looking at them.

These are just too cool! These pods would make great tiny homes for homeless people or a great little camphouse on one’s own or someone else’s property. If these could be built for a REASONABLE price (50-75K is NOT reasonable for a homeless or low income person)…it would make a dent in the homeless/low income housing problem.

Really beautiful and brilliant, I aould like to have one.
I believe these capsules are meant to stay longtime on far away locations, but what to do with the grey water?
    Just put it outside??

    • Eric
      June 7, 2016, 4:06 am

Grey water outside is for the most part fine. Black water, well that’s a whole ‘nother story.

So many uses for these if produced at a reasonable cost. Larger sizes could also be built or pods joined together.

How are these transported? Do they have wheels up underneath and a tow bar with stabilizers? Or can they be placed on some kind of a trailer along the lines of a racing sulky? I love the notion of these for immediate humanitarian relief in disaster areas, and an instant home for the homeless; especially in the dead of winter. As long as these could be purchased for a very reasonable price, they would be wonderful to have. I’m not sure about them as weekend getaway lodgings, though. Do we really want the forests full of Mork from Ork eggs? I don’t know. But I certainly love them for beach cabanas!

Spectacular! A sleek and modern nest with all essentials provided for. A surprising amount of storage space; it looks as though there is even space under the bed. I wonder how the bed folds up.

Very rarely does a tiny house get me excited as this one does. What a wonderful resource for homeless people and what a superb design.

Wow .. what a practical and sustainable concept .. looks a bit like a trekky escape pod or for an orkan (nanoo nanoo, beam me up Scotty) but that’s definitely not a bad thing .. I’m guessing they’d be lightweight and durable too .. great for a huge range of applications .. Any ideas on cost or how transportable they are?

The solar and wind power is great. The pods look like something out of a science fiction move, a bad science fiction movie. Personally I think a yurt design would be much more appealing, at least it would be to me.

  • Kosch
    June 6, 2015, 1:37 am

These are great! We have owned a Casita trailer for years and I lived in it for a couple of years when I worked away from home. These remind me of that trailer, but with the self sufficiency of wind and solar.

  • jane
    June 6, 2015, 3:53 am

The pod looks great-could be used as homeless city shelter, mountain hut, holiday vilage etc?

  • Enid
    June 6, 2015, 4:13 am

The egg shape was what was MOST appealing to me. We had an Audiologist who came to a rural health clinic twice a month, He used an egg shaped chair to block out sound for his testing. On days he wasn’t in the other doctors would take a few minutes to sit in it. You just felt so refreshed, cutting out the rest of the world almost a back to the womb experience. I would recommend if you get this you find some way to keep all technology out. Maybe hook your car up with the internet and take your phone calls there. This is serious peaceful.

I thought it was ingenios…I went to the website to read more about it…it didnt say what it weighed however it did say it could be pulled by a pack animal..so quite lite I think…collects and filters rain water..kit and bath have running water…shower, toilet, has decent sleep area and kitchen for such small unit. ( square feet ?)..solar, wind and battery power to let you stay out a year..easily shipped…pulled by a car…I mean whats not to love about it..I think its brilliant…take all the money wasted on sending to other countries and buy these and use some unused govt or other land and solve the homeless population…..great for a weekend getaway too….wonder how much they cost..and how much to ship…their a long way from the US….

    • George Zalai
      June 7, 2015, 2:04 am

About 60 K each plus 3 K for shipping. CCA 3,500 lbs on a skid.

ok reality check… hello anybody there? this is a non-functioning prototype. a mock-up, digitally enhanced theory advancer, this thing is no more capable of supporting your life than it is capable of sustaining it self. wonder why there are no specs on water containment, cause there ain’t none, black water containment, grey water containment, fresh water containment, propane for the stove, battery configuration with modulators. what heats and cools it? come on guys! remember star trek junkies. ok, it’ a cool idea. ok, the mockup looks slick, but did you wonder why the on site shadows don’t match up, or reflections on windows, or doors with no entrance apparatus, because it was a slick photoshopped enhancement. don’t get me wrong, i love how it looks, the marketing is cool, but it ain’t for real. they are completing their marketing research, out of date rags like the atlantic give it credibility like they do martian invasion strategies. i love a good story, preferably fiction, and that is what this is… currently. could this change and it becomes reality, sure, if someone invests mega-bucks, which is what they are trolling for.

there are a lot of remarkable companies out there, doing remarkable projects, changing the course of lifestyle options for all of us, this may be one of them. but currently this is hyperbole at its best. what this does when not properly introduced, is make those of us who are truly pioneering a new way of living look like yahoos with metal foil caps attempting to reach our alternative planet. don’t get me wrong i love new technology… if it is reality based, this one is not. i love seeing the potential of future projects like anyone else, but not at the expense of disgarding a firm attachment to reality. could this become reality, oh ya, but the work has not even begun, this is just playtime, positioning its self on the back of real heros of this movement.

ok… discarding my soapbox, never should have hopped up on it. just being protective of reality. really, i love this website, and what alex and so many contributors accomplish, what i dislike are companies that attempt to use it to troll for investors at the expense of hardworking, entrepreneurs, innovators, risk takers, and great dreamers of a better future.

Exactly what I thought. Small enough to be portable for travel. Seems easy to make secure for use as a permanent cabin allowing the owner to work undisturbed away from it all. Easy to personalise too.

  • david
    June 6, 2015, 7:29 pm

Does a Tiny house have to be mounted on the trailer at all times?
or can it slide off and just set on skids. then be reloaded to move.
You see I have no Truck, nor a desire to tote a trailer. I believe I could
hire a flat bed trailer to move it. yours or any ones thoughts please.

For some reason, this pod made me think of that Tom Cruise movie Oblivion!! The design, the lines of it, the pod itself, looks like it could’ve been in that movie!

  • Nette
    June 7, 2015, 2:53 am

I could just see these beauties air-lifted to disasters all over the world. If they incorporated water tank and black/grey water disposal even better. They would have been great for the Vanuatu cyclone and Nepal earthquake. We are so blessed to have designers like this all over the world. Well done.

  • June 7, 2015, 9:28 am

These pods are absolutely brilliant. For all people serious about diminishing our carbon footprint, this definitely is moving us in the right direction. Bravo!

  • Jean
    June 7, 2015, 11:10 am

How much and when will they be available?

  • June 7, 2015, 5:14 pm

Nicer design. I wonder how these would work in hot weather? Look great for cold and cool.

  • Rue
    June 8, 2015, 4:55 am

The website says these are working prototypes and they expect to announce price late in “the 2015″…..seems they went to Google’s translator for their English webpage.

It’s not meant as a permanent dwelling, but I’m looking at the size and thinking that it would be towable….they say they’re designing a chassis for it to be used as a camper. Would be an awesome alternative to a regular RV.

    • Varenikje
      June 8, 2015, 10:23 am

Still it doesn’t look cheap. Several people suggested these as homes for the homeless or disaster victims, and I doubt that these would be good for that if they cost a lot.

Completely OFF TOPIC: Does it bother ANYONE ELSE that the “Comments” section no longer posts 100% of the comments but you have to constantly refresh “Previous Comments” over and over again?

I, for one, do NOT like this new change, simply because it makes reading replies to prior comments disjointed. Someone will be responding back to another comment and unless you hit “Previous Comments” all the way back to the beginning, you can’t figure out Who is saying What to Whom.

Alex: can you share why this feature was added?

    • Cahow
      June 8, 2015, 10:38 am

Adding to my comment: I had to refresh and reload this discussion SIX bloody times to read all the comments! 🙁

Alex, I’m begging you: can the comments go back into ONE readable section? I lack the patience and fortitude to go back % forth between pages to read what all your members have to say.

  • Rue
    June 8, 2015, 10:47 am

Probably true, though after watching Vice’s reporting on why Hatians are still living in tent cities years after the earthquake and where aid money actually goes, I wouldn’t be surprised to see these marketed that way. Apparently disaster relief is now just another money-grab industry.

    • Rue
      June 8, 2015, 10:51 am

Sorry. Meant to reply to Varenkije, below.

And yes, that “Previous Comments” thing is tiresome.

It looks like the aliens have landed but, pretty darn cool. Is the solar integrated into the exterior or are there panels somewhere?

  • Elle

Uh, duh… Never mind the ‘solar panel’ question. Is this tow-able or can you just fly it to your destination 🙂

    • BrownLuster
      June 13, 2015, 11:06 pm

It looks like…Both. I went to the website and the designers state:
“Ecocapsule fits into a standard shipping container and no special preparations and precautions are necessary to transport Ecocapsule worldwide. It can be shipped, airlifted, towed or even pulled by a pack animal.”
Lol. @ the pack animal part!!

After further reading it did show that the Ecocapsule can be transported on open trailer with a hitch and that a Camper version will be available in early 2016.

I actually like this Ecocapsule. I just hope when they create the camper version, it can be customizable in size up to say maybe 320 sq. feet. I would buy one for sure!

  • June 5, 2016, 5:51 pm

    “Galactic”

  • Bev
    June 6, 2016, 1:03 pm

My one question is, can you anchor it? I live in a windy area. Because it has a wind turbine, I would think the design would give it a tendency to roll on windy days. I know there is some weight to it, but I see this capsule, just rolling away in a windstorm. I didn’t see anything addressing this in the article. or website.
