Deek Gives You a Video Tour of Ella’s Tumbleweed Tiny House

Recently Deek visited Ella Jenkins and her Tumbleweed Tiny House.

And while he was there he created a new video that you can watch below.

Ella shares her home with you while she tells you about how she lives happily in her little house on wheels.

She started the project when she was 23 years old and completed it in about one year.

You might also be excited to know that she’s sharing the house with her boyfriend. And they both play instruments which they’re able to keep in the house.

I encourage you to watch the video tour with Deek and Ella below:

How this 23 Year Old Woman Built her own Mortgage-free Tiny Home in One Year

Ella calls her tiny house on wheels Little Yellow. I love the unique porch post that she found and used. She says it isn’t really necessary structurally… But it’s useful because you can use it to climb up to the porch. And you can also hang things on it like a hat or coat.

The front door knob came from an antique store. Total cost was around $30 for it. She was even able to get a natural pine countertop in her kitchen which looks great and it definitely matches the rest of the cabin inside and out.

I love that she built little corner shelves to take advantage of these normally unused spaces in the kitchen and bathroom.

I also like that she used a horse trough for her shower. She ended up just buying a new one at the hardware store for around $100. You might be able to find a recycled one for less though.

Finally for a toilet she chose a really simple saw dust composting toilet setup which doesn’t take up much space and I think it actually looks nicer than most toilets since it’s made out of real wood.

To build the house she bought the Tumbleweed Fencl tiny house design & plans. She started building it when she was 23 and finished it in about 1 year later. Right now she’s sharing the tiny home with her boyfriend who she met shortly after moving the cabin to its current location.

Nice job Ella. Better than most which isn’t bad for your first one.

Smart getting started this way when young keeps you out of debt making life much easier.

Regarding the horse trough: spend the money, buy the new one! We just used three we bought second hand for our daughter’s wedding. All three looked to be in excellent shape. All three leaked water. The floor in your tiny house and water do not mix! Even the smallest drip can lead to rot or mold. Hidden under the tub, you may not notice until it’s too late. It is not worth the savings to get used in this case IMHO.
By the way, I’ve always loved this rendition of the fencil.

Fantastic work and interior design Ella! I forwarded your video and blog to my daughter who lives in SF.

Would you recommend any advice to find affordable lots to rent or own for your Tiny Home?

      All the best to you…

      Sandy
