The maple tree was and is an integral part of this backyard cottage from it’s inception. The tree wraps the cottage providing a leafy screen from the street during the summer and in the winter rain drops collect on it’s branches.

Love the bathroom! The mirror, the sink base, the beadboard. It feels open and has so much light…a lovely little place to call home!

Should of also shown the art studio as both house and studio are a unit.

Built atop a one car garage… but its not, its an art studio. Oh, did they get around planning permission by building a garage, with approved living upstairs and now have turned garage into an art studio? Devious methinks.

    Cool digs.
That last shot that shows the exterior with the heat pump reminds me of a couple of places I’ve seen on Bainbridge Island Washington.
The mother-in-law over garage house is such a great idea and this is a really nice execution.
