Couple’s Van Life Documentary: Living and Traveling in a Van

Have you ever considered living, working, and travelling in a van?

Then this couple’s van life documentary is a must-watch because they share the sometimes tough truth about what it’s really like fitting your whole life into a camper van.

From the outside, the van looks like what you’d expect: dark blue, a compartment on top for your bed, and a bike rack in the rear. On the inside, this isn’t a quaint tiny home spruced up for professional pictures. You’ll see a dinette and kitchen area stuffed with food, games and other necessaries. Laptops clutter the table, clothes are strewn in every crevice, and as this couple will tell you, life on the road isn’t always easy. At one point the couple can’t sleep because of a loud storm, and at another point, the 6-foot 6-inch man is trying to get comfortable on the dinette. During a board game, the van is tilted, messing with the dice roll. Yet all of this, they say, is making them better people because of how it’s pushing their limits and forcing them to cope even though travelling in and sharing such a small space can be challenging.

I have thought about doing the Van Life but hate to drive. However I truly enjoyed learning more about life on the road. Shelby and Simon are two very likeable young people. “Creating the life that don’t have to take a vacation from…” is a profound statement.
Wishing you two many blessings while you travel North America. Let me know if you visit Northwest Georgia.

I have a van just like theirs and I love it. Times it can be interesting but always fun plus it has a bathroom so no more walking through th woods in the rain to go.

Shut up! You are NOT a freeloader !! The United States belongs to its citizens. And NO, the US government cannot own land in the US. The Constitution prevents it. Look it up. That’s why the BLM (Bureau of Land MANAGEMENT) manages the public land for the people. And as long as commercial property is concerned, you will not be freeloading to stay at a coffee shop more than 4 hours. As long as you are in the US, you are entitled to park in designated places that belong to the public. And no shop keeper is going to run you off unless you are being obnoxious or dangerous. I’m really pissed that you have been made to feel like a freeloader! Stop it. You are just as important as the next guy… or gal.

The poor dog looks just as miserable as the couple. I think I would part at a BLM free for 14 days and stop the traveling just to catch my breath and relax. And I’d take the dog on long walks on the BLM land.

It’s nice to see a realistic account of a couple living out of & traveling in a van. I’m sure they will change some things on their next venture & now realize the importance of a sound roof, proper insulation, & good ventilation. It is sad that you get hassled by the ‘law’ in so many places. What caught my attention was how they conduct their business & the point of doing something besides a 9-5 & my hat is off to them for that. Way to go !! While I’m sure they were miserable trying to sleep wet & cold, the dog definitely does not look miserable, just looks like a dog & gets out plenty (watch the video). Peter piper -BLM is part of the fed.gov. who owns about 28% of USA’s lands. Statement that BLM (fed.gov) manages land “for the people” is highly debatable. Having to park in “designated places” equals a lack of freedom. Commercial property is private property & you can be told to leave at any time for any reason the owners choose. The reality IMO is you are only allowed to park where ‘ the man ‘ says you can. Disagree? You can complain all the way to the pokie.

Well that sure doesn’t sound like fun 😟. Maybe if you got a better van or mobile home that doesn’t leak? It makes me want to stay in my apartment.
