Their tiny home on wheels is built on an 18′ trailer that they bought from Tiny Home Builders. It offers about 118 sq. ft. of space inside but if you include the loft space it’s about 200 sq. ft. of space.

The couple spent $17,307.98 on building materials and an additional $12,480 on labor to build the house. They spent an additional $4398.40 to finish the interior of the house for a grand total of $34,186.38. View details here.

Congrats on building such a cute functional house. Pictures on the video and web site includes their cats, and I just love seeing the cats in their house. I also see they brew kobumcha tea/or water kefir. folks after my own tastes.
I hope they enjoy their house for many years to come.

When comparing this to the price SUV, Pick-up tucks and other vehicle’s that sre completely loaded. And loose their value once driven off the lot. I say the price is a reasonable steal. for a brand new home… Also consider this many save that much as a down payment for building the traditional 1000 plus sq. foot house as well as obtaining a 30 year mortgage ..So no I don’t think it’s all that pricey..When all the other factors are weighed in as well..

Cute house, cute couple. For those who have price constraints, think DIY. Home improvement centers have classes, and if you ask a manager they will add a class or find an employee who can explain how to do something. Reusing materials also can reduce the price, but if you are like me you end up with upgrades. Very nicely done and no mortgage. If you pay as you go, like most small houses… the mortgage interest saved is huge. I bought 5 acres on a 10 year mortgage and it is a long haul. Lucky I have an old single wide to keep my expenses down. Three years in I have it half paid off and hope to complete at 5-6 years. Prepaying saves thousands. Start with your home or start with your land, it’s all good.

I love the entire house, except the price, lol. I have an 18′ RV frame that I would like to make into a tiny house. I’ve already started buying some of my appliances, and wood (most of mine will be reclaimed) I’m so excited ! If you have drawings/plans would consider sharing? For a price of course.Great job, an thanks for sharing with us newbees. Naomi

118 sq. ft. being in the lower end of the scale of tiny houses sure makes for some close quarters when trying to live in that amount of space with two people… Any way it seems to work out well for these two….!

Instead of cabinet doors, consider using curtains, or if you sew, use cloth. You will need to measure your needed length and width, but you can always buy 2 sets of café curtains, for example, if you have a wide space. You can use a spring rod to hang the curtains or look at curtain hardware and screw it in. Pick colors and patterns that suit your taste or just buy solids. For a really wide space, you can buy the kind of wire that doesn’t bend or stretch. I saw where the builders of this house have a utility space in the kitchen, under the counter. If they want to hide the buckets and such, use café curtains on a spring rod. If the short curtains are too long, it is easy to shorten them from the top by folding over the top, and make a rod pocket, using simple hand stitching. I’ve turned bookcases into cupboards this way, and match a bedspread or comforter, add some pillows and enjoy the look.

Rebecca- what about buying 1/2 acre instead of 5? Cheaper, no? ?

I’ve owned a 1/4 before and currently 2 acres and think 1 acre is the sweet spot.

Some more windows would be nice. All in all a job well done!
