Couple Living Simply in DIY Shipping Container Tiny Home

This post contains affiliate links.

In August, we introduced you to this couple who were building their own 620 sq. ft. DIY shipping container tiny home. On September 1st, they officially moved in and I’m happy to report to you that they couldn’t be happier!

I wake up to a gold glow in the house from the Sunrise and relax on the couch at night while watching the sunset over the pond, couldn’t get better. 8 months of craziness was worth it. Now we have a mortgage free home that we built with our own hands. Living the dream! 🙂

Lovely! I followed their journey, making of the pond included and I thought they were very lucky. I love the whole concept of container homes and want to one day build one myself. The only problem I saw with this home was the bathroom…..it’s going to be murder to clean those wall tiles! So, my hope is that they never get mould or soap scum on those tiles. Other than that, beautiful home ???!

I was thinking the exact same thing re: bathroom tiles. Gorgeous, but man, is that going to be brutal to maintain!

Absolutely stunning high design home from shipping containers. However, I wonder what the final cost was?

Someone has a sense of humor with the title “Couple living simply . . . .” I would say this is a wee bit above my idea of simple living, lol. And when I too realized it was near Dallas I did a double take, its not my idea of the wild west image I associate with Texas. 😉 Nice home but agree with Rita, hope you’re retired so you have a lot of time to scrub those shower tiles. 🙂

I guess it can be said they are living “elegantly simple” 😀

But it’s definitely a simple life relative to the average 2000+SF home in the USA, isn’t it?

Love that pond; and the house is very nice–love that they left the name of the container co on the front! (Keep hoping for some really cool preserved graffiti on one of these!)

That bathroom tho!–Um–no! Looks as if the walls are bristling—and if you brushed up against one you would leave blood on those stones. Also looks too narrow but that could be the angle. All for “alternative” decor but this one to me is a fail. I have seen this stuff sold as backsplash and again–NO ; holds every drop of grease and dust and cob web and like my extremely annoying “textured ceilings” might be almost impossible to get this stuff OFF. You can vacuum the ceilings–and they make special dusters–but soap scum? No thanks!!!

Is that dry stack marble or quartz on the shower walls? How do you stop the water from going right through it? Oh well, it does look sharp. 🙂
    The whole project looks great.

I love shipping container homes and this one is another great example showing what can achieved by using these versatile boxed.
    Rock solid yet affordable.
    Great job!

Hard to believe the beauty coaxed from a shipping container! But I agree. bumping into the shower walls-ouch! And keep your pressure washer handy.

I agree with previous comment, would like to see more pictures or even a video to show bathroom bedroom. Is this one or two containers? Looks like maybe two.
