Interesting… There’s 2-3 things that really stand out here… Let’s see how many people notice them ;-p

How about… it is incredibly DARK in the kitchen zone… omg, I couldn’t work with the ceiling and walls soaking up so much light, via outside or from light fittings. YIKES!

lol, nope, but you were on the right track on the stove… It turns out it’s only electric and thus needs no outside venting…

One of the very few that has the outside door opening out instead of in. Not a huge deal with this layout, but sure would make a difference in some, dealing with limited space, and having to worry about a door opening in.

Hmmm… Nice looking unit, but I wonder about what appears to be a wood stove beneath the stairs? Not sure about that. Also the TV hanging out over the stairs might make for more difficult access, or tearing your TV off the wall if you slip and grab!

Yes, the wood stove is one of the interesting features…

It’s probably either a gas stove that is made to look like a wood stove or one of those wood stove zero clearance inserts you can install into walls, faux fire places, etc.

This means the heat is vented and isn’t allowed to radiate in all directions like a normal stove and thus safe to put into other structures.

You should probably check out Ana White’s youtube channel for the big family house her family built over the last year. Their fire place is an example of one of these zero clearance inserts and they have videos showing how they built the faux fireplace around it…

Option has actually been around for many years but high cost and the fact people also like the idea of using wood stoves to cook with has limited their market appeal… Especially, as some people like the idea of just building their own rather than buying a commercially built unit…

Think of them more like a furnace, good for getting heat out efficiently but not meant for things like cooking, etc.

Some are even designed to work as boilers, providing hot water and/or radiant floor heating.

Doubt that it is a gas stove. Wouldn’t have a handle on the front if it was. So must be a solid fuel stove… aka wood stove but could burn other solid energy sources like coal or coke. Photos don’t show the whole length of the house so could be that is the reason you don’t see any chimney pipe.

Actually, the wood stove style gas stoves have doors and handles… They’re intended to look just like a regular wood stove and will even have faux ceramic wood logs to help the fire look like it’s a wood fireplace…

The lack of a visible pipe actually suggests it’s gas…

I believe it is an electric heater. I have one that looks just like a wood burning that is electric.

i was looking for the vent pipe. …with limited exterior photos, i could not see it, so still possible it is not gas or wood burning.

i suspect the bathroom’s lower wall is not tile, but repurposed wood plank cut to size and painted.

i appreciate the tucked in washer from the bathroom side, with the storage access above from the main room.

It looks like one of the electric heater units that I have seen at Lowe’s.

Looks like you’re correct, I found it… It’s a HomCom 20″ 1500W Free Standing Electric Wood Stove Fireplace Heater. 750W/1500W, fan vented, with adjustable thermostat control for comfort and lighted and animated faux wood fire display that can remain on even when the heat is off… and it’s only around $90…

I definitely would do something different with the TV and also add a railing.
Both simple items to take care of. I like to openness of the layout and also from the outside it does not look real tall as out of necessity some of the homes are almost twice as tall as they are wide. And that is okay too but can make one feel uneasy to pull something that is way taller than it is wide.

Every time a see a place with a U shaped kitchen at the end (which, surprisingly, I don’t see often), I know that is what I want for my place. It is so efficient and reduces the amount of unused space.
