In celebration of TWO upcoming hands on tiny house building and design workshops that my friend Deek Diedricksen is putting on (see below) we’ve teamed up to give away quite a few tiny house books (about $200 worth).

In addition, Deek is tossing in a hard copy of his Transforming A-frame tiny cabin plans that can be found on RelaxShacks.com.

As for Deek’s upcoming workshops, a Fargo North Dakota Workshop has JUST been announced for May 28th-29th, 2015…. It will be a small, intimate workshop inside an art gallery, with a LIVE, Hands-ON build and limited to only 12 people… [email protected] if you’d like to sign up….

This workshop will be taught by Deek and Dustin Diedricksen who recently have been hosting and building for the DIY NETWORK and HGTV, and feature special guest Austin Hay, who built his own tiny house at age fifteen, which resulted in a viral video showcasing his work.

AND…..in Connecticut- (only 6-7 spots left) a HANDS-ON build to benefit “The Empty Spaces Project” art gallery, which will later be on public display for a month, and then auctioned off to benefit the local art scene and its rehabilitative efforts for the town. This workshop features a TON of guest speakers, demos, talks from tiny house dwellers and builders, and MORE! This is a THREE DAY workshop…. coinciding with the art opening of NYC painter Maltee Sinanan.

      Hey Sally,
The minim home may be of use. All you would want it to exclude the office and as long as the bathroom is fine as is that should work, right?

I would like a library of tiny house books. Can you post a list of the prize books? I couldn’t read all the titles. Or use an upcoming post to suggest some good reference books

Oh, good. I like these things. I’m not a designer but I love to look at peoples’ ideas. The 8×8 one was lots of fun.

Hi Alex – just curious if the designs you posted over the past few days were the only ones under consideration for the contest. Were the other submissions not deemed to be as space efficient or creative?
    Thanks,
    Denise

Hi Denise – nope I still have lots more to add! I just haven’t had the time yet so I extended the announcement until this Friday to give me more time to process them all. Thanks!

Busy, busy I’m sure but just wondering if the 8×12 design contest was for “April Fools”. Just kidding. Like Greg “not concerned” I’ve just ,had friends asking…

Did you mean Friday April 17th for announcing the winner? 😉
I’m not too concerned, but quite a few of my followers keep asking who won.

      Hey Greg,

I figured your fans might be slightly curious too. I forgot to tell you that I hosted two different couples/guests who found my listing through your site over the past month, and after spending a couple of nights in the tiniest of your tiny builds, they felt 100% convinced about moving ahead!

I think that’s awesome, and just thought you might want to know that some of your Rocky Mountain Heads (ok, maybe they need a better groupie name?) are serious enough about having you be their builder that they’re traveling to Austin specifically for the first-hand experience. And I can also assure you that, although I’m still relatively new to the “tiny community” I am doing an absolutely kick-ass job of representing you and the entire tiny lifestyle to everyone who stays here. I truly enjoy being a positive resource and sharing my teeny tiny pad with so many cool people.

Thanks everyone for the likes and the constructive comments. And most thanks to Alex, Andrea, Deek, et al, for the opportunity for all of us to showcase our dreams, desires, and doodlings. There were so many good designs, diverse imaginations, and so many good ideas that were on display in this contest. Hats off especially to Anastasia for her concept and the incredible product research in her TH. I’ve reviewed her entry several times and I see something new every time.

Thanks again and looking forward to the next.
