7 Businesses You Can Start From A Tiny House

I have been hesitant to write about this but I know that some of you are looking for ways to start your own simple Internet-based business and I love this topic because it’s what I’m doing full-time and it’s intriguing.

This post is for you if you have that interest or if you already run a small business and are looking for ways to expand so you can reach more people.

So let’s jump right in.

There are so many ways to go about building a business online. I’m going to take you through seven different ways that I am familiar.

I’ll only show you businesses you can start and run from a really small space. Since you’re here on some kind of computer, you can most likely start with what you’re already using.

Providing High Value Information On A Topic (#1-6)

Whether you can help others pass a professional exam or if you just want to share information on a subject that you are passionate about it’s never been simpler to make it on your own as a researcher/writer/publisher than it is today.

And writing is only the beginning because you can provide information through audio podcasts and videos too.

Publishing Platforms

  • Free blogs (WordPress, Blogger, TypePad)
  • Writing for places large websites where you receive a percentage of revenue forever (no costs)
  • Website (if you want to build advertising income)
  • Paid blog (easy to start and you get full control versus free versions)
  • Podcast (audio programs – if you like to talk)
  • Video (if you are comfortable with video)

Ways You’d Make Money

I won’t let you expect this to be easy because it’s not. It will take you at least six months of consistent, focused effort to see results in income.

  • Income from ads
  • Selling your own product (eBook, how to guide, consulting or other service)
  • Earning commissions from related products through Affiliate Programs (like I do with Tumbleweed Houses)

Consulting (#7)

If you are an expert at something you can build a blog, website, podcast and/or video series around your area of knowledge to help bring you more clients that need your help.

Network Marketing (Bonus #8)

Do you have experience in multi-level marketing? You know, those companies like Mona Vie and Melaleuca that compensate you for bringing in new customers instead of advertising on television and magazines?

The only way this works is if you genuinely love the products that your company offers. If you’re just trying to make money, look elsewhere because it won’t work unless you have something you enjoy using. Only then are you ready to share it with others.

Successful network marketers are using a system with a website, blog and a couple of other tools on the Internet to build their network marketing business without annoying their friends and family about buying stuff from them.

Adjusting your expectations

If you’re like me these ideas get you really excited. I don’t blame you, it’s inspiring to know that you can start working on building a passive income on your spare time right now. The tools are right in front of us.

But the reality is that although later you find that all of the effort is more than worth it, you are going to find out that it takes serious effort to make any of these businesses I talked about a success.

It helps if you start small, make sure that you are enjoying what you’re doing and keep a long term perspective of where you are going to be six months from now, one year, etc.

I believe the key is getting it down to a few important tasks you do daily. Make these a ritual and if you’re consistent success is only a matter of time for you.

Ways you can start

The first thing you have to do no matter where you are at now is start with some research. What successful company would just skip that and guess? None.

You can start by playing around with the following three free resources to see what’s going on inside the topics you are interested in.

Google Keyword Research Tool (To see what people are searching for, a good start to keyword research)

Google Trends (To compare popularity on two or more topics)

Quantcast (To get to know your potential audience and get brief competitor information)

Let me know how you did with your research. Do you have a question that I can answer for you in the comments? Ask away in the comments.
