This is a 664 sq. ft. cottage in Ashland designed by Carlos Delgado. Outside, you’ll find a square cottage with a shingled hip roof. The front wall has a bay of four windows and a cranberry red door. A beautiful fenced-in patio comes off the front and a hot tub rests at the house’s side.

When you go inside, you’ll find crisp cream walls and beautiful finishes. The living space includes a corner couch cubby, armchairs, and a coffee table. Take the stairs to the master bedroom which has tall ceilings and french doors that lead onto a small back patio. In the kitchen, there’s a little breakfast nook with bench seating for family meals.

This is a beautiful and well conceived home. It seems every detail was planned and executed well. From detail to color combination this is easily a home to fall in love with. Designer and builder should be congratulated for conceiving and then bringing this plan to life. Excellent work.

Stunning and comfortable. Good use of space. A real stair case with risers of a reasonable height *squeal*. Love all the light and how the windows are incorporated elegantly into the design. That dining area is beautiful. I wouldn’t change a thing besides the exterior trim color. Not fond of red. I could definitely live here happily.

How warm and charming is this small home. I love it but would have loved even more — seeing more pictures of more rooms. It’s a very small home and every inch is important. I have a hunch it’s delightful but really would want to see more.

Very nice, love the natural lighting and the view from the bedroom ,with balcony. In my home,it was my favorite morning game. Daily I would try to get out of bed without the deer seeing me moving. I never won. so I appreciate the views and the details in this home. Great job

I would SO love to see a small house community of this home and variations thereof. (I’d also like to see an approximate price for this one.)

Was my question too. There’s an Ashland every where. I was born in Ashland, Ohio.

Nice, open spaces. But am I the only one that feels like this is just a smaller version of a suburban american home? I dont get the sense that you get from other tiny houses that every bit of space is well-used. I’d like to hear what everyone else thinks.

Having something crammed into every bit of space in those micro-tiny homes is what makes them feel too claustrophobic to me. I need a little breathing room and the option of rearranging furniture to adjust the space. Plus all that light!

Its a cottage… therefore yes, it “is” a smaller version of a typical suburban home. Tiny houses “need” to make use of every teensy weensy bit of space… this cottage doesn’t. So it can feel more comfortable for a greater range of people than a typical Tiny Home.

One needs to make use of space that works for oneself. For many, tiny homes are claustrophobic. This home would, in many cases, overcome that sensation.

Personally I quite like this place. But it would be a non goer for me as it is 2 stories and with my knees starting to pack a sad stairs are becoming problematic.

Looks like realistically I’ll be building a modification of the Nils Pearson house. Extend it a bit to get 1 more bedroom and I be as happy as a pig in muck.

Bill, it’s not a tiny house, it’s a cottage or small house. Get over it. That’s why it was listed in the small house email. I for one am extremely glad they now have the separate small home emails. The majority of us are not going to live in a true tiny house but instead will be considering downsizing towards a small or smaller house, cottage, etc. A big part of downsizing will be reducing the number and size of bedrooms and reducing the sizes of the other rooms. Who needs a 20′ x 30′ living room 15′ x 20′ bedrooms, unless you have a large family or you entertain a lot. We’ve been conditioned over the last several decades that bigger is better. That’s why I’m at a total loss as to why people in southern California drive an hour or more each way to work, just to live in a big house in the valley, when they could live in a smaller house closer to work and actually have some time to spend with their kids, spouse and or friends or just simply to decompress from the stress of their day at work.

This was designed and executed by an architect, with very high end detailing, in both the design and build phases of the project. I used to be a builder, and as Ashland is similar in general costs to Boulder, Colorado, where I live, I would guess about $400 a square foot without the land, minimum.

I just wondered why you don’t put what state the houses are located in. In the US it seems every state uses the same names for towns and true of Schools.

Click on the architects link at the bottom of the pics. Takes you to his site linked to the house. While no photos of kitchen and bathroom it does have an animation that virtually builds the floors so you can see where they are.

Maybe owners didn’t want pictures of the kitchen and/or bathroom shown, for whatever reason.
