300 Sq. Ft. Off Grid Cabin in Woods of New York

This post contains affiliate links.

This is a 300 sq. ft. off grid cabin in the woods of Yulan, New York.

The owner is also a fashion and interior designer, Scott Newkirk, who enjoys staying here and getting away from the big city during weekends in the spring.

The cabin is completely off grid with no electricity and no running water. This allows Scott to completely unplug from the modern world. When he wants to take a bath he goes down to the nearby creek!

Outside you’ll find there’s a large outdoor deck for relaxing and taking in the surrounding views of nature. Inside you’ll notice an open floor plan and floating stairs that lead up to the sleeping loft. Simple but awesome, isn’t it?

Please enjoy, learn more and re-share below. Thank you!

Good looking rustic but contemporary cabin. I love the exterior design. Personally I am not crazy about outhouses and bathing in a creek, but if you gotta do it, this is sure the place! Beautiful creek and woods, gorgeous cabin. Congratulations!

I love everything but the scary stairs and no bathroom.

For lots more photos and info on this property, check out this article in the NY Times that just ran. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/24/fashion/the-cabin-porn-commune.html
Newkirk is the former owner…this property is a site in Barryville, NY called Beaver Brook. The cabin and property now belong to a serial tech entrepreneur who also founded the “cabinporn” dot com website — a source of inspiration for many tiny housers no doubt. NYT article explains all about how this property has become an artist commune and collaboration space. Great way to put a large property to full use by inviting friends to join in the tiny house building adventure!
