258 Sq. Ft. Tiny River Cabin

This post contains affiliate links.

This is a 258 sq. ft. tiny river cabin uniquely designed by Marion Tepp and her husband and originally shared on Small House Bliss.

The spacious outdoor deck allows for living and dining outside when the weather is nice. How amazing to get to have your own waterfront dining anytime, right?

When you go inside the cabin you’ll notice an open living room with a wood burning fireplace and at the other end is your small kitchenette and half bathroom with a composting toilet. Look up from the living area and there’s your rather spacious sleeping loft space thanks to the two dormers. Please enjoy and re-share below.

Twenty years ago, when I had knees that worked WITH me rather than AGAINST me, I could have stayed here, indefinitely. I adore all aspects of the exterior/interior: the wood, the colours, the wee floating star lanterns. Very charming and whimsical, indeed.

This reminds me of the Old Days. Very organic and simple, and love those windows. I’d sleep on the couch to stay here. In fact, I’d probably live on the couch. What a view.
(working on my brevity, per Doris’s instructions.)
Thanks for pointing out that it’s in Germany before the usual questions start up about dishwashers and other US gotta-haves. The simplicity of this place is very appealing.

Enjoy life the right way. Forget the dishwashers, etc. Simple basics are all anyone really needs 🙂

This is the best tiny house I have ever seen! So comfortable and cozy but with plenty of space. And to have it in that location- could not ask for more…except to be able to live there full time!

No shower, no storage, no closet space and killer stairs. View and wood interior…lovely.

Looking for a small house/cottage like the one above on a foundation that is 28ft by 32ft between 2 ponds. Cottage home! Can you recommend anything?

Other than the ceiling in the bedroom being a tiny low, this place is awesome, wonderful, great, and when can I move in?

First I noticed the pretty windows and the storage space for wood for the stove. Nice comfy looking living room. Seemed a bit too urban to go with “a river cabin” but hey. Then the kitchen. Seriously? No room and no fridge. The bathroom has a compost toilet and that seems about it. Is it not finished? Is bathing done in the river like they did in “the old days?” Next. The loft. Clearly designed for head injuries. Is there a hospital nearby? If so are they aware that this house is for sale? Bring the hand sanitizer as there does not appear to be any running water! The person with the head injury just gets tossed in the river. Now I get it! The house can be resold constantly! Clever!

It is not just about taste. It is practicality. I get very frustrated with realtor ads that emphasize pretty while completely ignoring practical. Misleading even false advertising.

Ok understand. But this House is not for sale. It is an allotment and we have to accept some rules. One of the rules is that you are not allowed to have a shower (incoming water is ok, outgoing water not). We have an Outdoorshower behind the House. It is not allowed to stay permanent in the House and we live only 5 Minutes away where we have a full bathroom. It’s also just allowed to build a House with 24 qm and the high of the House has to be maximum 3,60m. 😉 And the fridge is at the left side of the kitchen. There is no need to have a huge kitchen because most of the times we have great BBQ,s outside. And least, the Loft is for our son, when we stay overnight we are able to sleep on the sofa…you can use it as a bed.
You see, a lot of rules in an allotment but we are fine with it. And we are proud of it because we build it all by ourself.
