OMG that is beautiful kitchen and bathroom! Should I assume that’s a sofa that becomes a bed?

Beth Grant DeRoos, yes… There’s no dedicated sleeping space the the couch is it… This one seems primarily intended for a guest house…

Put in a murphy bed. Sofa that turns into a murphy bed.

Beth – That was my first thought also 🙂

Nicely done. However I would raise bathroom or kitchen to allow for a pull out matress…

This is a really nice space for people who don’t mind putting their bed away every morning. Or one could just have a bed there all the time–I know a woman who does that, and it works out just fine for her. I love the shape of the space, with the angled roof/ceiling. Looks good both inside and outside.

You mean a daybed! Yea, that would work very nicely. I would not want to have to take a Murphy bed up and down every day.
I would have to have “smart” windows that go foggy on the doors and some the lower windows though.

    WOW! WOW! WOW!

So nice outside and inside but making it 10ft wide, put the kitchen, bath in the rearand the rest open.
If you need to move it rent, buy a trailer or hire a flatbed tow truck which can pick it up, sit it down.

I love the Zen house. With all included how much would it cost?

I just saw this one on Tiny House Hunters. This is a really good design and it is beautifully decorated.

I think I would build a large deck off of the double doors rather than on the front of the house and extend the length of the home over the space where the front porch is to have a small bedroom downstairs.

I like the idea and the layout. I do agree with John who commented about lifting the bathroom to add a pull-out bed, rather than the couch. I did see it on THH and it is nicely decorated and would certainly work as an aux dwelling.

But my main “nit-pick” is the name… “OPEN CONCEPT”. If i am narrow mined, please let me know, but aren’t the vast majority of tiny houses “open concept”?? I only know of a few (the Vista Escape Traveler now has a walk-around bedroom, and a home by Heirloom, I believe that’s the company) have dedicated bedrooms with a door.

    • James D. July 30, 2017, 5:48 pm

Paris, yes and no… Open Concept (aka Open Plan) does mean having few or no internal walls or partitions and that does fit a large number of Tiny Houses but the basic concept essentially means you can view everything from any point in the space with a few obstructions as possible and having a space with no lofts means there’s is nothing really that you have to move around to see the rest of the space… Only the bathroom is not completely in view in this model…

Besides, they’re not comparing it to all other tiny houses… It’s just a name to distinguish this model from their other models… They could have just as easily called it the wedge ;-p

While there’s a lot more than just those two examples for Tiny Houses with bedrooms… The first model shown off by Bear’s Tiny Homes in Georgia is another example… Clayton Homes PreFab tiny houses have bedrooms… Cornerstone Tiny Homes in Florida has made a couple of models with bedrooms… There was even one THOW, don’t know the designer but I believe it was a custom DIY, that was designed with three separate bedrooms, whole thing was only 31.5′ x 8’6″ by 13’10” tall and listed at 400 sq ft with 1.5 bathrooms, and it was made for a family of 4… New Frontier Tiny Homes has also made one with a bedroom and two separate loft bedrooms… among other examples…

So there’s actually quite a range of options out there… even before you start looking at those built on foundations or are bigger than road legal and thus require a permit to move…
