Where is the refrigerator? Pics of bathroom? How larger is the loft over the couch? Nice place.

I was wondering the same thing..

Hi Jerie, Thank you! The fridge is in the doorway to the living (built in under the closet). You can just see it in pics 4 and 8. I have yet to take pics of the bathroom. It needed some finishing touches first. I will certainly be putting them up on my FB page later. The small loft sleeps one person, but for now it’s intended for storage. It’s 80 cm (about 31,5 inch) wide and of course would need a railing when used as a bed.

When the young Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in search of an adequate answer to the question : “what is the architecture?” found in a phrase by the philosopher Tommaso d’Aquino he said: “Adaequatio Rei et Intellectus” (latin phrase), translated is “Adeptation the Intellect to Reality”. How can we not recognize that this is true….

Very nice styling. Love the floor and the living room has such a nice aspect about it. Windows on 3 sides, the tv is at a good height It looks really comfortable. the color and lighting are great.
My changes: Switch the oven and sink. Put the oven against the wall and the sink under the window and the fridge at the end near the seating or opposite where the fold-in table is. I don’t like the oven so close to those white cushions. I would also add backsplash and a range hood. The back stairs/hidden loft is great. I would need more windows in the loft. Aside from my personal changes, its a great little house!

Hi SC, about your suggestion of switching the oven and sink: It was planned that way originally but the oven couldn’t fit over the wheel well. Now it’s sitting beside the end of the wheel well. The fridge tucked away under the closet just makes it appear cleaner to me in the living area. I thought about putting in a roof light but eventually decided against it. A: thought it’d be a tough job and B: I only sleep there anyway haha and the one window has plenty light coming in (also it’s my emergency exit). Also on the opposite site it’s completely open and a lot of light comes in from the living area side. Was happilly surprised about that. Thanks for your kind words.

Btw fyi: in Holland the weight rectrictions are 3500 kg (7716 lbs) so that’s why sometimes we have to leave things out or get smaller fridges or stuff like that.

Wow! Nice job Remco. This is a well-planned space, and I like that it has a sort of mid-century vibe. Its very comfortable looking and allots the right amount of space to virtually all of the activities that take place in a home. I *love* it! Wouldn’t change a thing. Congratulations.

Thanks so much Kathy! Let’s call it Post-modern industrial popart 😉

Very nice. I like the total design and the stairway. I am glad to see a TH without ladders and one that has a safe loft. I would recommend a splatter guard at the side of the stove. It could prevent a fire or splatter on the built-in seating area, which is quite nice.

Hmm have to think about the splatter guard. Maybe a removable one because it probably won’t look that good. There’s about a 50 cm (about 20 inch) gap ’till the start of the couch. But thanks for the tip

Very lovely. I love how it is decorated and the layout. Wouldn’t mind one like this for myself 🙂

I think it is beautiful, I love the sleeping loft and that it doesn’t have a lot of windows. I am up there to sleep and I do that best in the dark. Great Job!

    • September 1, 2017, 4:54 pm

Hi Dawn, I’m right there with you on the loft windows. One let’s in plenty of light and doubles as a fire escape. At night it’s covered with a no-light shade. Thank you so much!

Wow remco! I am also a high school teacher and feel very inspired that you built this house! I especially like the stairs to the bed — i have a dog and need stairs for him– and how cool that they are also storage. Truly, bravo and thanks for the inspiration 😎😍

Hi Tamara, thank you so much! And remember: if I can do it, so can you! Just do a ton of research and GO fot it! 🙂
