smart-couple-design-build-and-live-simply-in-170-sq-ft-tiny-home-002

In this post I’m introducing you to Esther and Kenny who are a young couple who have designed, built, and now live simply in their 170 sq. ft. tiny home.

I was lucky enough to have the chance to interview them and they were nice enough to share their thoughts and experiences with all of us here at Tiny House Talk.

For me it’s always exciting when anybody decides to take charge with a small space. And it especially makes me happy to see young people doing it because I know how helpful it can be for them later on.

Mobile Tiny Cabin Built on a Trailer with Hot Tub for Glamping

If you like the idea of living in a tiny house but would rather have a hot tub tiny cabin on a trailer

Then you probably won’t be able to get this tiny house company out of your head because it has just that (see below).

Unfortunately this is not available in the United States right now because they’re still just a small company in Warwickshire, England.

And they specialize in designing and building these tiny cabin units for the growing glamping market.

But… you can “Like” and connect with them on Facebook right now if you want to connect with them online. They also have their own website.

Do take a look at this amazing micro cabin on a trailer below though.

the-porter-cottage-1-600×466

The Porter Cottage is the picture of environmental sustainability. From the composting toilet to the solar panels that allows the tiny cabin to have modern furnishings without being on the power grid, this comfortable abode measures only 550 square feet.

The designer of this tiny house is Alex Scott Porter who built the place for her father, Bruce Porter. The family is no stranger to academia. Bruce, now retired, used to teach at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. Alex has a Masters of Architecture from Columbia but also attended Yale’s School of Architecture and earned a BA cum laude from Penn State. Following in her father’s footsteps, Alex has also taught at Columbia, Barnard and the Pratt Institute.

Tiny House Design for Campgrounds

I just had to show you this tiny house design sent in by a reader.

It’s called the mobile wooden hut which is designed for four people to sleep in.

The purpose of this mobile micro cabin is to serve as a cabin for vacations and camping sites.

Right now the first ones are being built for a campground in Belgium.
