You’ve heard about Derek “Deek” Diedricksen and his up and coming tiny house & shelter building workshop this July 9th 2011.

It’s going to be a single day 14 hour event that covers a whole heck of a lot…

But most exciting of all… It’s going to be FUN and HANDS ON.

And I’m SO EXCITED to put my newly learned skills to use from Jay Shafer’s tiny house workshop in Orlando.

Speaking of Jay, here’s one of Deek’s latest video interviews (with Jay Shafer).

So… who’s going to be there and who the heck is Derek “Deek” Diedricksen anyway?

If you don’t know him by now (and you like tiny houses) you should. Here’s Deek explaining EVERYTHING about the upcoming workshop in a quick 2 minute and 40 second video clip.

Go ahead… WATCH.. 🙂

Did you know Deek was featured on the New York Times just a few days ago? If you haven’t checked it out already it’s a great read (and there’s some AWESOME photos of his backyard shelters).

Go check it out by clicking here. The link will open in a new window.

Sign up for the hands on building workshop before it’s sold out!

If you can make it, we’d love to see you there. Talk to Deek before there’s no room left. His e-mail is kidcedar  —at— gmail dot com.

Until next time, when I’ll let you know all that I’ve been up to as well as when I’ll be back on the tiny house scene “full time” (I’m finishing up an important time sensitive project!!).

Small Space Furniture #17 Super Rooms

Andrea sent me this great post today from TreeHugger where they featured a few incredible examples of multifunctional furniture inside small apartments.

If you had a set up like this your bed would be up on a loft with a completely enclosed underneath closet (yes, below the bed).

You’d have a tiny spiral staircase that leads up to the platform that holds your office and bookshelves. Underneath?

More storage that’s completely hidden! Another example goes on to show you how two people can share one room while still having “their own space”.

I can show you one picture but you’ll have to see below for the links to see the others.

Small Wedge House

Thank you to Timothy who’s a reader that I talked to on the phone today. He doesn’t know it but he got me inspired to jump on here today to show you this amazing small house in Finland.

It’s not tiny… But it’s still relatively small and you’ll find it to be one of a kind.

You have a waterfront view and one of the neatest porches I’ve ever seen.

Inside the house you’ll find beautiful pine walls, floors, and ceilings.

The large windows bring the scenery to you inside while you enjoy the simple/minimalist nature of the home’s design.

The house is called Villa Mecklin and was designed by Huttunen-Lipasti-Pakkanen Architects in Finland.
