Not only men can have their ‘man caves‘, women can have their own little backyard retreats too.

I’m excited to share with you this 10’x10′ shabby chic ‘she shed’. I think you are really going to fall in love with this one.

It’s super cute and I love the large mirrors they included in the small space to make it seem much larger than it really is.

Wouldn’t this be a great backyard retreat to read, write, meditate, sew or just simply have some quiet time in?

Below you can see the before and after pictures of this she shed. Please share and enjoy!

Lol I agree. It’s like posting one of those little child’s playhouses you can purchase pretty much anywhere.

If you didn’t notice all the personal customizing from the roof down, its time for an appointment with your eye doctor. Further, they are called She Sheds for a reason. No members of the He-Man Woman Haters Society are allowed past the door, Alfalfa.
      Sincerely, Darla

This latest posting couldn’t have arrived at a better time for that student, Alexis, and her desire to transform her playhouse into a chance for independence!

Whether Alexis uses her former playhouse as a study area only, as some have suggested or she wants to make it an autonomous dwelling, she’s sure to gain encouragement from this posting.

I’m not ashamed a wit to embrace my ‘girly’ side since my work demands me to be covered in sawdust and grit during the day. I could settle in for a proper tea with this owner in a heart-beat. 😀

An extraordinary conversion that is as continuously delightful from every angle as I have ever seen. ‘ANDY’ would also call the Mona Lisa a ‘canvas with paint’, and the Sistine Chapel a ‘ceiling with paint’. I can see this ‘She Shed’ as being the perfect spot to write, read, or just have tea or a glass of wine. To enjoy the company of a friend, or just take a nap. This is a place over the rainbow and I love it.

Very copsetic. Though I’d have put in a daybed rather than a sofa. For those after tea naps. Or when the hubby snores. 🙂

The readership of this website have been getting really entitled lately. What is going on?

As a reminder, it is perfectly acceptable to keep your needlessly negative comments to yourself.

Hi there- I’m putting some time/focus into removing the negativity in the comments to keep this the most positive/safe place to share ideas on tiny living. I’m on it and I apologize for the lack of moderation lately.

Be careful how you approach that, Alex.
Sometimes the best of intentions only lead to an increase in whatever it is you’re trying to quell.
Sometimes, what appears to be a “negative” comment is only someone expressing a different way of looking at things.
      If you will, “constructive criticism”.
Not “siding” with anyone, just saying…I’ve seen this before.

      • Alex
        June 24, 2015, 2:10 pm

Thanks Dean! It is challenging to decipher constructive criticism from discouraging negativity laced with assumptions, but assure you I’m giving it my best and I think I can handle it 😀

Not my colour scheme or style but I’d bet dollars to donuts it suites the owner perfectly and that is what our Tiny Houses are supposed to do – suite the ones who build them. There is a car port down the bottom of my driving begging to be made into a screened in summer kitchen… it only I could convince himself to move the snowmobiles and ATVs elsewhere…

OMG!!!!………It’s like the book………..”I always wear purple”, if you haven’t read it, it’s no wonder you don’t get the color. I need a shed as that, love the “she shed”, you go girl!!!!!!

    am already signed up,

I think it’s lovely. It’s an expression of personality, so don’t judge it harshly unless you want that thrown back at YOU. What was of major interest to me was just how much you can get into 100 square feet. Aren’t the homeless houses being built about that size? I think it’s perfect. YAY WOMENDOM! For every man who has a cave, a woman deserves a retreat.

Yup.. It’s a girl thing. But cool none the less. You go girl!

Wow! More chic than shabby for sure. I would dress up complete with hat and gloves to take tea in this She Shed. What glorious, glamorous afternoons could be whiled away in there. Check out the link to The Devine Life for some background on the influences.

Well, technically Andy’s right….it IS a shed with paint. Along with being a testament to the amazing things one can do with a shed and a bit of paint. 🙂

I love the idea of a feminine answer to the man cave. A little more elaborate than my style personally, but a lovely little retreat to take care of a few things, or sit back with a good book.

Oh.My. Gosh!!! Not only is this exactly my style, but my favorite color is pure!!! I feel shocked-and in love with this space!! Great idea with the mirrors-I thought for a second there was some kind extension in the back. Was this shed a kit, or did they build it from scratch?? Although expensive, I would rather have French doors with some kind of screen-the Mosquitos here would just eat you up if you left those doors open.

Hope this is in a mild climate because who would want to miss a minute of time in this beautiful little retreat due to weather. Wonderful idea and great job on the shed. I envy you.

Appears to have no insulation. Or heat. Or toilet. Or recliner. Or fridge for cold drinks. Or hotplate for tea or coffee. Or A/C. I like the idea of buying a ready made shed tho. Lowes has some rather nice two story ones even.

      Hi Theo,
This is a ‘She Shed’, not a Tiny House. Totally different.
They are great ideas. Also highly beneficial as an extra living space/entertaining space, escape from a Tiny House, if you are looking for one. It is the female alternate to a ‘Man Cave’.

I have always wondered why not start with a ready made shed and make it into a tiny house. There must be some reasons. I would like to here them. Thank you

I t’s easy to heat w/ a small electric heater…..even if it’s REALLY cold w/snow, my small ele. heater, makes it toasty warm and cozy…..love being out there in winter…….I paint, looking out my doors, I can do beadwork, work with crush eggshells mosics …. you get the idea….

  • June 27, 2015, 10:37 am

Love it, it’s perfect. If there were a tiny fridge and small coffee maker in there, I’d steal it. I live in FL and am about to do something similar, so thank you for posting this! We have to have everything insulated and a/c here, or it’s miserable, but found a great shed at WeatherKing in a cabin style. I write…and getting out of the house and away from “I should be cleaning something or doing work, or returning emails” is something I think I need to do.
    Thank you again!

Wowzers folks, lighten up. It’s not mandatory to be here. I think it’s darling. For me? No, but my my granddaughter would vote me Best Grandma of The Year if I had this for her ♡♡♡
